<p>Position Title: Adult Education SCIENCE Instructor (Temporary/Seasonal)</p> <p>Reports To: Adult Education Program Coordinator</p> <p>Location: Enfield Public Schools Adult Education Program</p> <p>Employment Type: Temporary/Seasonal (Evenings and/or Weekends as scheduled)</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Adult Education Instructor will provide high-quality instruction to adult learners enrolled in Enfield Public Schools' Adult Education Program. The instructor will design and deliver lessons that support learners in achieving their educational goals, including high school completion, English language acquisition, workforce readiness, and personal enrichment.</p> <p>Core responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver science lessons that are engaging, balanced, and aligned with curriculum goals. Adapt content and methods to meet the diverse needs of adult learners. </li><li>Classroom management: Establish and maintain a positive and productive learning environment that encourages student participation and respects diverse backgrounds. </li><li>Curriculum development: Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate program goals and meet learning objectives. </li></ul> <p>Essential skills and qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Subject matter expertise: A strong and secure knowledge of the relevant science disciplines. </li><li>Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex concepts clearly. </li><li>Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching styles and curriculum to accommodate a variety of learning needs, styles, and maturity levels. </li><li>Technology skills: Proficiency in using technology to deliver lessons and educational materials. </li><li>Organizational skills: Strong organizational skills to manage lessons, materials, and administrative tasks efficiently. </li><li>Interpersonal skills: Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with adult learners. </li></ul> <p>Additional duties</p> <ul> <li>Student support: Provide extra resources and support for students who are struggling and help them with any learning or attitude problems. </li><li>Safety: Ensure that all scientific equipment and experiments are safe, with high standards of hygiene and safety procedures implemented at all times. </li><li>Administrative tasks: Handle administrative tasks such as grading, record-keeping, and potentially assisting with recruitment or other school activities. </li><li>Professional development: Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to stay current with educational practices. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Must hold an active CT Science teacher certification</p> </li><li> <p>Must have or be willing to obtain a 106/107 certification</p> </li><li> <p>One year of adult education experience and/or teaching adults.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient with technology, including use of the Internet for research purposes, as well as proficiency in software applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint</p> </li></ul>
