<p>DISTRICT OVERVIEW</p> <p>Holyoke Public Schools is a PreK-12 public school district serving nearly 5,100 students, of whom 80 percent are Latino/Latina, in 11 schools. We employ nearly 1,300 people who together educate and support a richly diverse community of learners. (Parapro Assessment and workKeys) </li><li>Training or experience working with Special Needs Students preferred </li><li>Experience working in an urban setting preferred </li><li>Experience working with diverse student populations preferred Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills </li><li>Outstanding relationship skills are the most essential quality for BST Assistants. Ability to build trusting relationships with teenagers. </li><li>Ability to remain calm while working with students who are angry or distraught is essential. Able to establish a supportive relationship while also maintaining high expectations for student behavior is essential. </li><li>The belief that all students can succeed is essential, and the ability to help students believe in their own greatness is a great skill for this position. </li><li>Great listener; understand the teenage mind; be accepting of people from all backgrounds and mindsets, and be compassionate yet firm. </li><li>Bilingual Spanish/English (preferred) </li></ul>
