This role continuously monitors, analyzes, and interprets market pricing dynamics to inform disciplined pricing decisions that protect margin while maintaining competitive positioning.</p> <p>Operating within a highly transparent and price-sensitive cannabis environment, the Pricing Analyst serves as the organization's central authority on competitor pricing behavior, promotional intensity, and market price architecture. This individual translates real-time market intelligence into actionable pricing recommendations that support sustainable revenue growth and enterprise profitability.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Competitive Intelligence & Market Research - 45%</p> <ul> <li>Conduct structured, ongoing online and in-market competitive research across menus, marketplaces, aggregators, and retail channels. </li><li>Monitor competitor pricing across core categories, key value items, and priority SKUs on a daily/weekly cadence. </li><li>Maintain a competitive price index and benchmarking framework by banner and market. </li><li>Identify pricing gaps, undercuts, promotional spikes, and premium positioning opportunities. </li><li>Track new product launches, discount patterns, vendor activity, and competitive promotional cadence. </li><li>Develop competitive intelligence reporting that highlights market trends, risks, and opportunities. </li><li>Provide proactive pricing recommendations based on market shifts rather than reactive discounting. </li><li>Support competitive strategy during acquisitions, market entries, and banner integrations. </li></ul> <p>Margin Modeling & Financial Impact Analysis - 25%</p> <ul> <li>Develop financial models to quantify revenue and gross margin impact of pricing adjustments. </li><li>Assess margin exposure relative to competitive price positioning. </li><li>Evaluate SKU- and category-level contribution performance against margin guardrails. </li><li>Incorporate cost changes, tax structures, and regulatory variables into impact analysis. </li><li>Identify pricing opportunities that expand gross margin while preserving competitiveness. </li></ul> <p>Promotional & Lifecycle Pricing Analysis - 20%</p> <ul> <li>Conduct pre- and post-promotion analysis to measure incremental lift, margin impact, and ROI. </li><li>Evaluate vendor-funded promotions and discount structures against financial targets. </li><li>Identify patterns of margin dilution tied to promotional frequency. </li><li>Support lifecycle pricing decisions across new product introduction, growth, maturity, and markdown phases. </li><li>Flag slow-moving or aging inventory requiring pricing intervention. </li></ul> <p>Reporting & Cross-Functional Partnership - 10%</p> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain competitive dashboards (Excel, Power BI, Tableau). </li><li>Translate market intelligence into executive-ready reporting. </li><li>Partner closely with Merchandising, Finance, and Operations to align pricing execution with strategy. </li><li>Present competitive insights and pricing recommendations to leadership. </li></ul> <p>Key Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Deep curiosity about market behavior and competitor strategy </li><li>Advanced analytical and financial modeling capability </li><li>Strong commercial instinct in price-sensitive environments </li><li>Data-driven decision-making </li><li>Ability to synthesize large datasets into clear insights </li><li>Execution discipline and attention to detail </li><li>Comfort operating in fast-moving, highly competitive markets </li></ul>
