<p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Office Support II position is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties for multiple departments, as well as providing coverage for the Switchboard Operators break times and absences. The person in this role also assists with the Volunteer program.</p> <p>POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not necessarily limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain resident lists from daily census. </li><li>Submit office supply orders for departments to maintain adequate inventories. </li><li>Maintain employee in-services records. </li><li>Maintain the Berks Heim Nursing and Rehabilitation website. </li><li>Update policies/procedures. </li><li>Assist with the publication of the monthly newsletter. </li><li>Assist with payroll distribution as needed. </li><li>Relieve the Switchboard Operator for lunch/breaks. </li><li>Assist the Volunteer Office with special events. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or G.E.D. certification from a recognized issuing agency. </li><li>Two years of clerical experience in typing and office practices including working with varied computer applications. </li><li>Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to perform routine clerical work. </li><li>Sound strategic problem solving skills. </li><li>Ability to type accurately, rapidly and to compose effective correspondence. </li><li>Demonstrated mastery of the English language, including correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. </li><li>Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. </li><li>Knowledge of data entry, computer operations, and automated/electronic record keeping. </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel. </li><li>Knowledge and work experience in office support services including methods, procedures, and office practices. </li><li>Ability to make mathematical calculations. </li><li>Ability to coordinate several tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors and outside agencies. </li><li>Ability to adhere to all County policies and procedures and appropriately engage services provided by other County departments. </li><li>Ability to thrive in a stressful, fast paced team environment. </li><li>Physical presence in the office is required. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>Ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Work involves talking, hearing, using hands to handle and feel objects, tools or controls. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs. May occasionally wear protective gear (eye protection, masks and gloves).</p> <p>WORKING ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, blood and body fluid, diseases and conditions prevalent at the time. Employees may also be subject to emotionally distraught residents, family members, visitors and personnel.
