Responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic MRI procedures in accordance with established protocols and under the direction/supervision of a radiologist.</p> <p>Position includes participation in on call coverage rotation and holiday shift coverage.</p> <p>MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Reviews patient schedules before patients arrives.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates a proactive approach in confirming the patients arrival.</p> </li><li> <p>Appropriately choose correct patient based on schedule and priority.</p> </li><li> <p>Review scripts and all pertinent prior studies and notes.</p> </li></ol> <p>A. Check for blood work when necessary.</p> <p>B. Check authorization when necessary.</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Confirm patient identification by asking patient to spell last name and provide D.O.B. </li></ol> <p>A. Apply appropriate screening questions for MRI safety following departments policy and procedure.</p> <p>6.Collect clinical/medical history from patient:</p> <p>A. Confirm the ordered test and laterality/body part</p> <p>B. Why are they here for the exam.</p> <p>C. Explain the exam to the patient in simple terms.</p> <p>D. If necessary, call ordering physician for new script (s)</p> <ol start="7"> <li> <p>Perform exam according to diagnosis, patient history, and protocol.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide as much comfort to the patient as possible during exam.</p> </li><li> <p>Check all imaging before releasing the patient.</p> </li><li> <p>Input information to Meditech, including taken status, depart, and billing.</p> </li><li> <p>Input all clinical information into PACS/ARIS portal and check that all images were sent.</p> </li><li> <p>Appropriate communication should take place depending on the priority and findings of the exam.</p> </li><li> <p>All technical & clinical aspects should be communicated through the technologist.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide communication about any delays to patient.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>3-5 years experience preferred, but not required. </li><li>Ability to apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology. </li><li>Ability to recognize and respond to medical emergencies. </li><li>Has developed skills to practice in a safe clinical environment. </li><li>Proficient in IV set up. </li><li>Knowledgeable in safe vs. unsafe metallic implants </li></ul>
