<p>General Definition of Work</p> <p>The lunch room assistant, under general supervision, performs entry-level work with minimal decision-making discretion monitoring student activities and behavior during student lunch periods. Employee performs school-based work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the principal</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures </li><li>Monitor behavior of elementary students during lunch periods and enforce cafeteria rules </li><li>Assist students with carrying lunch trays </li><li>Assist students with opening lunch boxes, condiment packets, containers, drinks, etc. </li><li>Assist students with cleaning area when finished </li><li>Provide reports to teachers or administrators as needed </li><li>Create an inclusive environment with positive communication </li><li>Perform related work as assigned or required </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Skilled in communication, both verbal and in writing </li><li>Ability to enforce cafeteria rules and appropriate student behavioral standards </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively </li><li>Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships </li><li>Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums </li><li>Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent required </li><li>Experience working with elementary age children preferred </li><li>Equivalent combination of education and experience </li></ul>
