<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Middle School Teaching/Science</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>3/13/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Horizon Science Academy Cincinnati</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>08/01/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>10/30/2025</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Horizon Science Acad-Cincinnati  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Job Summary -</p> <p>Position is responsible for creating an innovative classroom environment that fosters, promotes, and develops students' ability to apply problem-solving processes and core content knowledge to solve real-world problems in creative ways that lead to deeper learning in science.</p> <p>and that discovers and develops special talents of students in the field of Science to prepare each student to meet the OHIO State Standards.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ol> <li> <p>Teaches knowledge, skills, and practices in STEM and Science utilizing curriculum designed byby Horizon Science Academy Cincinnati and other appropriate learning activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Instructs students in the basic tenants of engineering design, design thinking, and computational thinking.</p> </li><li> <p>Works cooperatively with core and science teachers in a professional learning community to ensure alignment to the Ohio State Standards of Learning and to meet individual students' needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilizes a variety of instructional technology, tools, and techniques, identified as a best practice in STEM teaching to promote student growth, creativity, and collaboration when facilitating challenge-based learning experiences that integrate multiple disciplines.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates self-reliance in mastering new technologies such as robotics, online instructional programs, and basic coding</p> </li><li> <p>Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the course standards for Science skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning, health and attitude problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Administers testing in accordance with division testing practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.</p> </li></ol> <p>Other Duties</p> <ol> <li> <p>Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and other professional activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school including PTA, student clubs and after-school activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Creates an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.</p> </li></ol> <p>Job Specifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be eligible or possess Ohio Teaching License or on RESA License with appropriate endorsement to teach Language Arts. Must possess ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, & the public.</p> <p>Working Conditions and Physical Requirements</p> <p>Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
