<p>This role is responsible for recruitment and retention of the nursing staff, as well as overseeing nursing staff. The Lead Nurse also occasionally collaborates with doctors on patient care and helps assist patients and their families when needed.</p> <p>Primary Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Oversees quality patient care by the Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses/Licensed Practical Nurses </li><li>Supervises daily operations of all nursing functions </li><li>Coordinates with the Executive Director and Medical Director to establish protocols and develop best practices </li><li>Implements and educates established protocols and best practices to nursing </li><li>Coordinates and/or facilitates staff training and development to maintain quality of care consistent with or exceeding industry standards </li><li>Oversees the Infection Control /Employee Health Program within facility specific regions </li><li>Hires, trains and develops assigned staff </li><li>Conducts annual performance evaluations for staff, including goal setting and counseling where appropriate </li><li>Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with staff to communicate issues regarding procedures, processes and overall departmental performance </li><li>Coordinates groups led by nursing staff weekly for Chemical Dependency Education </li><li>Maintains medical and pharmaceutical supplies at established par levels to ensure promotion of cost effectiveness </li><li>Coordinates staff scheduling and payroll </li><li>Serves on various organizational teams/committees and acts as a consultant to other departments </li><li>Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Nursing or Executive Director </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in organization and time management and the ability to prioritize responsibilities</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to make presentations before top management, public groups, and staff</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, financial reports, and legal documents</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations</p> </li><li> <p>Intermediate skill in MS Office and electronic medical records</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in professional interaction and communication with clients</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate proficiency with OSHA's Universal Precautions</p> </li><li> <p>Availability for alternate, evening and weekend shifts may be required to meet state and regulatory agency requirements and business necessity</p> </li></ul>
