<p>Responsibilities for this Position</p> <p>Shipfitter - Skilled</p> <p>US-CT-Groton</p> <p>Job ID: 2025-14905</p> <p>Type: Full-Time</p> <p># of Openings: 20</p> <p>Category: Manufacturing Support/Trades</p> <p>EB Groton Shipyard</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear powered submarines for the US Navy and we are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth! We are looking for people who want to learn and grow within our Shipfitting Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines.</p> <p>With more than a century of experience, Electric Boat has established standards of excellence in the design, construction and lifecycle support of submarines for the US Navy while maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. Working with various metals, a Shipfitter is required to interpret construction drawings with basic mathematic ability. Job tasks include layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of foundations, structures, components and deck packages. Individuals need to develop a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations. Work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures. Work conditions may include entry in restricted/confined spaces.</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Medical, Dental, Vision </li><li>401K Plan </li><li>Paid Vacation and holidays </li><li>Shift Premium </li><li>Health and Wellness Programs including Onsite Wellness Facility, Pharmacy, and Physical Therapy </li><li>Commuter/Van Services </li><li>Safety Boot Reimbursement Program </li><li>Hourly Rates from $27.57 - $38.41 </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to work all shifts and in all environments as well as Radiological areas of the boat </li><li>Willing to accept road job assignments </li><li>Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools </li><li>Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma/GED or 2+ years of related technical experience </li><li>5+ years of shipfitting related experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Additional preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs </li><li>Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program </li><li>Knowledge in fitting, fairing and shaping steel pieces, hull sections, bulkheads and equipment foundations </li><li>Ability to interpret structural drawings, technical manuals, test documents and diagrams </li></ul>
