<p>POSITION: Computer Science Instructor</p> <p>LOCATION: Albany Middle School</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Dougherty County School System is seeking a Computer Science Instructor to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The ideal candidate will have expertise in computer programming, software development, and digital literacy, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts in an engaging and understandable manner. This position is suitable for individuals who enjoy working with students of various skill levels, fostering creativity, and helping learners develop critical problem-solving abilities.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;</p> <p>Valid Georgia Teacher certification or Charter Waiver Eligible;</p> <p>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.</p> <p>SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <p>Ability to relate and motivate all students;</p> <p>Ability to successfully integrate technology into the classroom while engaging students;</p> <p>Ability to differentiate instruction and modify curriculum.;</p> <p>Strong collaboration and communication skills.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Curriculum Design & Implementation</p> <p>Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and learning objectives;</p> <p>Incorporate real-world applications to promote problem-solving and critical thinking;</p> <p>Ensure curriculum remains current with evolving industry standards, technologies, and tools.</p> <p>Instruction & Student Engagement</p> <p>Deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that encourage hands-on learning and active participation;</p> <p>Provide coding exercises, real-world projects, and assessments to reinforce technical skills;</p> <p>Utilize interactive media (e.g., tutorials, simulations, videos) to enhance lesson delivery.</p> <p>Assessment & Feedback</p> <p>Evaluate student progress through regular quizzes, coding assignments, and capstone projects;</p> <p>Offer timely, constructive feedback to help students improve their technical and analytical abilities;</p> <p>Track student performance data to inform instruction and support individual learning needs.</p> <p>Classroom & Learning Environment</p> <p>Foster an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic classroom environment that motivates all learners;</p> <p>Promote equitable access to resources and opportunities for all students;</p> <p>Implement classroom management strategies that support student success and engagement.</p> <p>Enrichment & Extracurricular Support</p> <p>Encourage participation in coding competitions, hackathons, and tech-related extracurriculars;</p> <p>Guide students in independent and collaborative technology projects beyond the classroom.</p> <p>Collaboration & Professional Growth</p> <p>Collaborate with fellow educators and administrators to integrate technology across curricula;</p> <p>Participate in ongoing professional development to stay informed about teaching strategies and technological innovations;</p> <p>Contribute to departmental initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.</p> <p>WORK/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Ability to lift and carry teaching materials, books, or small classroom equipment (typically up to 25 lbs);</p> <p>Ability to prepare and manipulate learning materials;</p> <p>Ability to stand and actively move around the classroom for extended periods;</p> <p>Ability to move between classrooms, hallways, and other school areas as needed;</p> <p>Ability to respond quickly in case of emergencies, such as evacuating students or assisting during drills;</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal</p> <p>SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide</p> <p>APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be reviewed upon submission, and will continue until the position is filled.</p>
