<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is currently recruiting Summer Inclusion Counselors to work one-on-one with children with developmental and/or physical disabilities and provide support as they participate in summer camp programs.</p> <p>Minimum Age:21 years old, as of May 12, 2026</p> <p>Pay Rate:$15.00 per hour</p> <ul> <li>Camp Escape (Drew Steele Center) </li></ul> <p>Camps run from June 15 to July 31, 2026, Monday - Friday. Counselors will work at one or more of the following camps. Hours vary by camp.There is no camp on June 19 and July 3.</p> <p>All staff are expected to attend mandatory training before camp starts</p> <p>This is a continuous posting and may close at any time</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>2 years of previous experience working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities, Special Education, adapted Physical Education, or Recreation. Recreation Therapy is strongly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>promoting good conduct and acting as a role model for campers. </li><li>presenting a mature professional demeanor. </li></ul> <p>Skilled in:</p> <ul> <li>modifying activities and environments so campers with special needs can participate fully. </li><li>providing personal care which may require lifting up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation. </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>maintain effective and courteous working relationships with campers, parents, employees, community organization partners, and the general public. </li><li>understand and abide by Greenville Recreation and Parks Department policies and procedures. </li><li>understand and follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>monitor children in a pool setting for an extended period of time. </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a valid driver's license issued by N.C. or another state. </li><li>Valid CPR, First Aid/AED certifications are required prior to the start of camp. </li><li>North Carolina Intervention (NCI) Certification and Medication Administration Certification are preferred. </li></ul>
