<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>THIS IS AN INTERNAL POSTING ONLY CURRENT SCDPS EMPLOYEES WHO APPLY WILL BE CONSIDERED.</p> <p>THIS POSITION IS ASSIGNED TO THE OFFICE OF SUPPORT SERVICES.</p> <p>Performs responsible management, law enforcement and administrative duties in the Office of Support Services Logistics Unit, under supervision of the Captain of Law Enforcement Logistics and Fleet, and under direction of the Director of Support Services. Assists the division leadership in the planning, coordination and implementation of all Support Services Law Enforcement Logistics functions and other law enforcement details as needed. Assumes all duties and responsibilities in the absence of division leadership. Ensures requisitions for purchases are complete, accurate and in compliance with any applicable contracts for submission to the agency's Procurement Office.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the overall performance of the Law Enforcement (Patrol Supply) Warehouse, to include proper staffing, proper inventory levels, reorder points, and the overall safe execution of warehouse operations. </li><li>Assures inventory cycle counting are completed by staff and completes random audits of warehouse inventory. </li><li>Approves of processes and documentation for research and development trials on new products. Assigns trials to appropriate staff. </li><li>Provides oversight to the Radio Communications Team. Assists with radio issues when the team is short-handed or overly busy. Approves plans and processes, including template changes to be initiated by the Radio Communications Team. </li><li>Directly supervises the Agency Armorer (Sergeant), Law Enforcement Supply Warehouse Manager (First Sergeant) and Radio Communications Manager (Senior Consultant). Completes EPMS on direct reports and reviews EPMS on those under supervisory umbrella. </li><li>Enforces criminal laws, responds to civil unrest, natural disasters and performs other law enforcement duties as deemed necessary. Provides guidance and direction to less experience officers in the performance of their duties. Responsible for proper maintenance of uniform, equipment and sensitive items issued by the agency. Accountable for proper handling of public funds and physical evidence. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>State Minimum Requirements - A bachelor's degree and experience supervising law enforcement personnel at a public law enforcement agency.</p> <p>Agency Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree. </li><li>Must possess a minimum of six (6) months of continuous service in the rank of SCDPS Sergeant or First Sergeant </li><li>Must be at least 21 years of age. </li><li>Must possess and maintain SC Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer certifications and applicable DPS law enforcement service certifications. </li><li>Good communication skills, both written and oral are essential for this position. </li><li>Should be familiar with basic warehouse processes. </li><li>Knowledge of agency policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and program services to include asset management, procurement and state fiscal responsibilities. </li><li>Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations related to the department and its divisions/programs. </li><li>Directly responsible for managing diverse administrative/management functions pertaining to law enforcement supplies warehousing, armory and communications. </li><li>Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with both internal and external partners. </li><li>Responsible for supervision of team leads and program services. </li><li>Must be able to utilize independent judgment and discretion as well as maintain a high level of confidentiality as it relates to sensitive agency issues. </li><li>While this position is generally scheduled for normal business hours, the person must be able to respond in a law enforcement capacity to critical incidents when called upon or to critical situations deemed necessary by supervisory personnel. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, pregnancy (including childbirth or related medical conditions), or national origin.
