<p>Compensation & Benefits:</p> <p>Expected hiring range $21.21 - $25.50 based on education, experience, and skills.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on district vehicles, equipment, and mechanical systems to support safe and efficient operations. Responsibilities include operating maintenance equipment and tools, maintaining service records, assisting with daily work assignments, supporting snow removal operations, and participating in district safety and training programs. On site presence is required, this is not a remote job. Subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement through Service Employees International Union SEIU Local 73. This position is required to adhere to all Waukegan Park District (District) policies and procedures.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate and perform preventive and service inspections, adjustments, and repair to vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Operate high-risk equipment such as heavy machinery. </li><li>Operate trucks, trailers, woodchippers, sod cutters, chainsaw, hand and power tools, and all other maintenance and mechanical equipment. </li><li>Maintain, review, and analyze records and logs of maintenance practices and inventories. </li><li>Assist in preparation and execution of daily work assignments and requisitions. </li><li>Handle hazardous chemicals. </li><li>Assist with equipment maintenance, upkeep of tools, and work area housekeeping. </li><li>Prepare and provide recommendations for equipment needs and resolution of safety concerns. </li><li>Assist with district snow removal operations, including plowing, blowing, shoveling, and salting of walkways and parking lots. </li><li>Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions. </li><li>Conduct self in accordance with the policies and procedures as established by the park district. </li><li>Participate in park district safety and training program to ensure that work performed, and services provided are implemented in a safe manner. </li></ul> <p>Marginal Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assist staff in the performance of their duties. </li><li>Assist staff with completion of work orders and special events. </li><li>Serve on in-house committees. </li><li>Attend seminars and training workshops. </li><li>Perform other duties as </li></ul>
