This unique and vital role involves providing safe and reliable transportation for our students, and equally important, offering essential support within the school environment when not engaged in driving duties. You will be a crucial link between home and school, ensuring a secure, supportive, and positive experience while contributing directly to a student's ability to access their education.</p> <p>This position will consist of approximately 50-70% of driving time, varying by schedule. It is a 10-month position, following the district school calendar, including holidays and staff training days. The hours are dictated by each school's arrival and dismissal times, with availability for overtime pay during nights and weekends. There are no required working days during the months school is not in session, but there is availability for hourly work during Summer School and pre-season athletic events.</p> <p>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with S (School Bus) and P (Passenger) endorsements. (Paid training to obtain CDL and endorsements may be available for qualified candidates.)</p> <p>Have either a NJ Substitute Teacher certification or 30 college credits from an accredited institution.</p> <p>Has at least 1 year experience driving a school bus.</p> <p>Familiarity with various types of adaptive equipment.</p> <p>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient approach to working with children.</p> <p>Reliability and punctuality are essential.</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>Minimum 21 years of age with clean driving record and no disqualifying violations.</p> <p>Ability to pass a DOT physical examination. (Often required every two years or as indicated by a physician. Drivers age 70 and above require an annual physical.)</p> <p>Successful completion of state and federal criminal background checks and fingerprinting.</p> <p>Physical ability to assist students, operate equipment, and perform necessary safety checks.</p>
