<p>Summary of Position</p> <p>Assists with the development, implementation, administration, supervision, and evaluation of facility operations and programs for all athletic facilities as needed. Assists higher level administrators as applicable to the assigned area in the general oversight of operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective, including supervision of staff. Works under direction and receives assignments and orders in general terms and is usually expected to complete an assignment within a determined time frame but is free to work out the details and sequences. Interprets regulations, policies, etc. for the guidance of other employees or the public; administers regulations and/or policies.</p> <p>Position Information</p> <p>Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Provides general oversight and administration of any assigned program, initiative, or objective, includes supervision of staff. Assigns and reviews work; establishes timeframes for the completion of assigned tasks; trains and orients new employees; approves/disapproves requests for paid leaves; interviews candidates for employment and makes recommendations for hire; evaluates employee work performance; receives and responds to grievances; helps with the development of unit work procedures and policies.</p> <p>Administers the scheduling, administration, and supervision of daily operations for all athletic facilities; manages facilities and programs in accordance with the policies and procedures governing departmental operations; coordinates and manages a proactive customer service program; works autonomously with the ability and adaptability to use sound judgment and discretion to make decisions in managing the operations of the department, including emergency situations, with efficiency and effectiveness.</p> <p>Assists in the maintenance and inventory of facility equipment; researches and makes recommendations for equipment repair, replacement, and/or purchase; maintains records and provides reports as requested.</p> <p>Supervises athletic programs and facilities for safety and security; communicates with YSU police and facility personnel as needed; manages the department's injury, incident, and theft reports.</p> <p>Serves as a liaison for events that take place in all athletic facilities and attends bi-weekly event management meetings to communicate with University support areas.</p> <p>Oversees all aspects of Beeghly Natatorium. Develops, implements, and updates the Aquatic Center Policy and Procedure Manual.</p> <p>Coordinates staff work schedules in accordance to state mandated requirements of pool usage for academic classes, instructional recreation sessions, open recreation use, varsity athletic practices and competition, special events, sponsored age group programs and other community based Aquatic Center use; verifies hours of programming and staffing, generates invoices, and submits billing for off-campus groups; generates department chargebacks for on-campus groups. Sets pool use schedule for opening/closing times, special events, classes, etc.</p> <p>Maintains accurate records regarding health, safety, discipline, and/or incidents occurring in the aquatics center; coordinates verification procedures and maintains records of state mandated certifications and cross training to any new certification materials of Aquatic Center staff; coordinates and conducts in-service training seminars every semester.</p> <p>Maintains, repairs, and conducts inventory for program equipment. Assists with annual budget development.</p> <p>Coordinates verification procedures and maintains records of state mandated certifications as well as CPR and Blood Born Pathogen training for all staff within the Aquatic Center; maintains communication with Environmental Health and Safety to coordinate pool closings when warranted for health and/or safety reasons; maintains the weekly pool/spa operation report form for Beeghly Center Natatoriums daily pool side chemical checks in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code for Environmental Health and Safety; assures daily pool side chlorine and pH levels are taken every four hours the pool is in operation; maintains daily pool chemical records; assures the pool water temperature is maintained between 81 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit and the pool area temperature is maintained between 82 and 88 degrees Fahrenheit; assures the pool bottom is cleaned as needed; assures the physical characteristics of the pool which includes water level, gutter level, water clarity, pool bottom conditions, and water surface conditions are checked daily; institutes policy changes when deemed necessary in accordance with State Health Code; places appropriate signage on all entrances to the pool when the pool is closed due to unforeseen circumstances and removes signage and informs appropriate personnel once the pool is reopened.</p> <p>Serves as the primary contact for the Watson And Tressel Training Site (WATTS) and YSU Tennis Facility. Performs all tasks with running both facilities including rentals, events, student staffing, maintenance, operations, tours, etc.</p> <p>Coordinates faculty/staff lockers and lock usage and schedules yearly cleaning of lockers; performs daily inspection of locker rooms for health and safety concerns; makes necessary communications to correct concerns when warranted.</p> <p>Recruits, interviews, and hires student employees; supervises all aspects of student employment, training, scheduling.</p> <p>Assists in all athletically-related events as assigned and/or requested.</p> <p>Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.</p> <p>Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.</p> <p>Other Functions and Responsibilities:Actively participates in public relations appearances and community services activities on behalf of the department.</p> <p>Complies with all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.</p> <p>Participates on various university committees and other special assignments. Assists with NCAA and conference championship events.</p> <p>Assists with training new hires.</p> <p>Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.</p> <p>Equipment Operated:Computer and all other standard office equipment.</p> <p>Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; ability to travel with sport teams.</p> <p>Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over staff and students.</p> <p>Reports to: Associate Athletic Director</p> <p>Qualifications and Competencies</p> <p>Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:Valid driver's license; CPR and first aid.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <p>Knowledge of: policy administration; process improvement; supervisory techniques; university policies and procedures<em>; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives</em>; department/division policies and procedures<em>; workplace safety practices and procedures</em>; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management.</p> <p>Skill in: use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.</p> <p>Ability to: deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; prepare accurate documentation; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one task to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.</p> <p>(*) Developed after employment.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree and one year of full-time work experience or two years of internship/graduate assistantship work in athletic-facility and event management; ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; ability to travel with sport teams.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:Facility scheduling experience.</p>
