<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>If your goal is to build a career that makes a difference and you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of South Carolina's youth, consider joining the dedicated people of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).</p> <p>MISSION:</p> <p>It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.</p> <p>JOB PURPOSE:</p> <p>Under limited supervision, monitors Eligibility process for compliance with Medicaid standards. Provides professional/technical assistance to Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) staff that require in-depth knowledge of Medicaid eligibility requirements. Serves as lead technical advisor on day-to-day operations regarding eligibility within the Office of Community Alternatives. Provides assistance to the Associate Deputy of Community Alternatives.</p> <p>JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Plans, directs and administers the DJJ Medicaid eligibility program.</p> <p>Monitors and evaluates the Medicaid eligibility application process for all DJJ juveniles placed in out-of-home placements.</p> <p>Maintains considerable and extensive knowledge of all DHHS administered benefit programs, including application process, the SSI benefit program, disability determination and appeals process, all state and federal welfare benefit programs including all approved legislated changes.</p> <p>Ensures adherence to DJJ policies and procedures relevant to Medicaid eligibility to ensure uniform interpretation, application and implementation.</p> <p>Develops and maintains a database for eligibility applications for all DJJ juveniles placed in an out-of-home placement.</p> <p>Communicates with DJJ County Offices and Community Alternatives Programs to provide necessary information on juvenile eligibility status.</p> <p>Serves as liaison with DJJ County Offices, other agencies and outside entities.</p> <p>Collects and compiles statistical and program information and prepares narrative and numerical reports.</p> <p>Completes other duties as assigned by their supervisor.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>A high school diploma and relevant program experience.</p> <p>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>In depth knowledge of policies/procedures related to Medicaid eligibility, reimbursement, applications, Medical Necessity, and billing.</p> <p>Ability to plan/assign/direct/review others work.</p> <p>Ability to prepare clear and concise documents.</p> <p>This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
