<p>Advanced Math and Science Academy, a college preparatory charter school, is seeking to hire committed, skilled, and inspiring educators. AMSA is committed to preparing all students to succeed in college and beyond. Located in Marlborough, MA, AMSA includes 6th through 12th grade classes. The Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School is currently accepting applications for a long-term substitute position as a grade 6-12 School Counselor starting January 30, 2026, through the remainder of the school year.</p> <p>Teachers and Staff Members at the Advanced Math and Science Academy will:</p> <ul> <li>Focus intensely on increasing achievement, content knowledge, and character growth for all students. </li><li>Create inspiring, challenging, and effective teaching and learning experiences for all of our students. </li><li>Be committed to serving all students, including English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities, in the context of the regular education classroom using a variety of inclusion models. </li><li>Contribute to a strong and supportive professional learning community. </li></ul> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The school counselor will provide the following services to an assigned caseload of students ranging in grades 6-12 determined by the Director of School Counseling:</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct academic, social, and social/emotional support services to students individually, in small groups, and in classrooms. </li><li>Monitor students at academic risk and collaborate with teachers and parents to help students create a plan for success. </li><li>Provide responsive services as needed to address academic, social and emotional concerns. </li><li>Facilitate and implement social-emotional learning in the Upper and Lower School, including but not limited to: </li><li>Designing, updating, and teaching quarterly classroom lessons </li><li>Co-coordinating the Lower School Advisory Program </li><li>Planning and organizing whole-grade and whole-school activities (e.g. Bullying Prevention Week) </li><li>Work collaboratively with other staff, including the other counselors, dean, special education staff, and administrators to help student success. </li><li>Attend 504 and IEP meetings for eligible students in caseload. </li><li>Assist in the spring scheduling process. </li><li>Assist in special projects as assigned by the Director of School Counseling. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Counseling/School Counseling and Massachusetts School Guidance Licensure grades K-8 and/or 5-12 are required. </li><li>Ability to collaborate, work well under pressure, and maintain a sense of humor and humility. </li><li>Strong commitment to Advanced Math and Science Academy's mission, values, and educational model. </li><li>Current authorization to work in the United States.
