<p>Under the guidance of the Workforce Education Coordinator, the appointed instructor will specialize in teaching English as a Second Language Commercial Driver Training (ESL CDT) courses. The curriculum has been developed and will be provided to the successful candidate, allowing them to focus on delivering high-quality, effective instruction to our students. It includes specific ESL CDT terminology lessons and ESL CDT Class A/B Permit courses. These offerings are part of the Integrated Education and Training (IET) program provided by Adult Education, in partnership with Yavapai College's CDT certificate program.</p> <p>The selected candidate will receive comprehensive training on the specialized Commercial Driver Training (CDT) material to ensure they are well-equipped to effectively instruct students in this discipline.</p> <p>Responsibilities will include course preparation and instruction; program and class recruitment; curriculum development; participation in the on-campus college community, continued professional growth activities; and creative program building based on needs assessment and collaboration with the Workforce Education Coordinator. Incumbents may be asked to teach other courses in disciplines in which she/he is able to be credentialed or trained.</p> <p>The chosen candidate will</p> <ol> <li> <p>Be the primary Instructor for the ESL CDT program.</p> </li><li> <p>Build and maintain post-secondary ESL courses needed (to include lesson plans and text as needed) that link with the established post-secondary program.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate with our workforce team to create relevant business partnerships in the community.</p> </li></ol> <p>The successful candidate is committed to diversity and inclusion, recognizes that service to our students is our highest priority, and embraces their role in student success, recruitment, and retention. This includes being open to a variety of delivery methods and course designs with the possibility of interactive, online, day, evening, split days, and weekend classes and/or teaching at various College locations.</p> <p>In addition, the instructor should be open to both traditional (16-week) and compressed course design (i.e., 8-week classes). The instructor can expect to participate in innovative forms of assessment and should be willing to utilize OER when possible.</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Adult Education or related field. </li><li>Must hold or be eligible to obtain an AZ Adult Education Teacher Certification. </li><li>Bilingual - Fluency in a second language to assist students in understanding the subject matter taught in English, effectively facilitating their learning of the English language. </li><li>Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a post-secondary or professional education setting. </li><li>Intermediate knowledge of computer systems and operating environments i.e., Microsoft Office Products and Google Workspace. </li><li>Excellent coordination and communication skills used appropriately to influence the decision-making of individuals and groups at all levels in a post-secondary setting. </li><li>Master's degree in adult education, multilingual education, or career & technical education. </li><li>Experience working with a culturally diverse population. Our instructors interact with a wide variety of students, and it is crucial to understand and respect different cultural backgrounds and experiences. </li><li>Willingness and ability to be a subject matter expert and can provide cross-functional support to students outside their study program. </li><li>Experience working in a Career & Technical Education and/or Workforce Development environment. </li><li>Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the AZDE (Arizona Department of Education) AES (Adult Education Services) assessment requirements, data collection, and state standards for teaching. </li><li>Has experience administering TABE and TABE CLAS E assessments. </li></ul>
