<p>CULVER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CORPORATION</p> <p>NURSING PROFESSIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>One on One Student Nurse</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Licensed Nursing Professional is responsible for managing the individualized student care by promoting and restoring student's health through the nursing process; collaborating with multidisciplinary team members and parents; providing physical, psychological and academic support to the student. Monitoring the student's condition and assessing his/her needs to provide the best possible care and advice. Observing and interpreting student's symptoms and communicating them to parent/health care professionals. Collaborating with school nurses and staff to apprise them of individualized care plans for students as directed by the Indiana School Nursing Guidelines.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Current Indiana Licensed Nurse </li><li>Strong academic background in health services and health education. </li><li>Knowledgeable of the changing growth and behavioral health patterns and how such changes affect children at all age levels. </li><li>Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from teachers, parents and students. </li><li>Ability to read and analyze professional journals, technical procedures and /or government regulations. </li><li>Must be able to lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to (50) pounds. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Conducts an individualized student assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the student's immediate condition or needs within the time frame specified by student's Health Care Plan procedures or protocols. </li><li>Conducts ongoing assessments as determined by student's condition and follows Health Care Plan protocols and re-prioritizes care accordingly. </li><li>Develops and updates the students Health Care Plan that is individualized for the student reflecting collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team. </li><li>Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician, as allowed by the Indiana School Nursing Guidelines. </li><li>Administers required medications as needed. (One the bus, at school, off campus) </li><li>Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized student's Health Care Plan. </li><li>Delivers care with appropriate age and cultural competence to specific student populations according to individualized needs. </li><li>Documents student assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem resolution. </li><li>Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols. </li><li>Provide emergency care for illness or injury occurring during school hours according to the established school board policy and student Health Care Plan. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality in matters related to student, family and school staff. </li><li>Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the student's and family's diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights. </li><li>Report the student's condition to the parent daily. </li><li>Participate in case conference committee meetings pertaining to the student to give input on current school health care needs. </li><li>Participate in area and state school health care workshops and training sessions. </li><li>Assist the student with basic care needs such as mobility, communication, dressing, toileting, and eating. </li><li>Travel on the bus with the student to and from school daily. </li><li>Assist the student with daily educational needs and goals as written in the student's Individual Education Plan as provided by the teacher. </li></ul> <p>Provisions (When student is not in attendance):</p> <ul> <li>Employee may be a substitute teacher in a classroom </li><li>Employee may be a substitute nurse at the Elementary School or Middle/High School </li><li>Employee may fill in at the front desk (answer phones, provide student guidance, file paperwork) </li><li>Employee may assist other students with their academics, as assigned </li><li>Employee may fill other duties as assigned by the Building Administrator </li></ul> <p>Evaluation:</p> <ul> <li>An Evaluation will be completed on the employee's performance after the first thirty (30) days and yearly thereafter. </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <ul> <li>Hours: 7-4:00 Monday through Thursday/ 7-3:00 Friday </li><li>Lunch: ½ hour unpaid </li><li>Length of Contract- 178 days </li><li>Dental/Vision/Health Insurance/Life Insurance </li><li>7 Sick days, 3 Personal days </li></ul>
