Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Post Award Grant Manager oversees a team of Portfolio & Grant Analysts, managing post-award maintenance, reporting, and metrics. This role provides expert analytical and financial services, guidance, and consultation to faculty and staff to optimize the use of research funds and mitigate the risk of non-compliance for all awards within the assigned portfolio. The Post Award Grant Manager collaborates with faculty, staff, and university offices to ensure compliance with policies and sponsor guidelines, conducts complex financial modeling, and cultivates strong working partnerships to support the university's research initiatives.</p> <p>Required Skills and Abilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to compile, analyze, and resolve complex issues with sound judgment. Strong computing skills, including proficiency in MS Excel.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated outstanding organizational skills and the ability to communicate policies and procedures effectively to staff and faculty.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated superior customer service orientation and the ability to work independently and effectively with a wide range of individuals. Proven ability to exhibit and maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate strong personal integrity and good judgment.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with high attention to detail and prioritization of tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability in data analysis, risk management, and forecasting, and experience with fund accounting and grant/contract administration.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Skills and Abilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Prior experience with Grants & Contract Administration from pre-award to post-award, including the use of Workday Financials and/or Yale Budgeting Tool (YBT), and other university financial tools, reports, and programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous experience in Sponsored Award financial management within an academic medical center, including experience with Yale's financial systems, policies, and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience in managing, mentoring, and advising staff, with the ability to influence change, and generate team cooperation and collaboration.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of federal regulations and guidelines pertaining to grant and contract administration, and familiarity with electronic proposal systems, such as IRES.</p> </li><li> <p>An advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or a combination of related work experience and education in a related field.</p> </li></ol> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Develop, recommend and implement policies and procedures related to grant management in compliance with all University, NIH and federal and agency guidelines. Participate in the implementation of new or revised University financial policies and procedures. 2. Provide detailed financial reports to Department leadership, PIs and grant agencies, as needed. Work with appropriate resources (OSP and other centralized University offices) to improve financial reporting for faculty. Provide grant consultation to faculty to ensure consistent fiscal responsibility within each organizational unit. Meet regularly with Sr. Ops Manager to update and apprise of ongoing issues. 3. Manage a team of Portfolio Analysts including hiring, training and performance management. Develop resource allocation metrics and cross coverage plans. Monitor ongoing performance and use of resources to minimize duplication of effort. 4. Review, recommend and implement standardized budget and financial management processes in order to achieve simplicity, speed and quality for Department. 5. Develops and maintains knowledge of University finance and budgeting processes and applicable federal, state and university policies and procedures, and the activities of a designated portfolio to ensure effective budget control and financial management. 6. Provide faculty with budgetary financial guidance concerning the availability of funding for recruitment, appointments and reappointments, as well as for decisions on layoffs. 7. Manage and monitor all related compliance issues including effort reporting, certifications, labor and non-labor cost transfers, University audits and reviews. 8. Direct and implement solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and establish and implement consistent university-wide policies for department post award administration. 9. Provide training to faculty and staff related to the grant management function. Provide training and professional development opportunities to staff. 10. Serve as backup to Post Award staff. 11. May perform other duties, activities, or projects as assigned.
