<p>Status: Full Time</p> <p>Shift: Monday - Friday normal business hours</p> <p>Exempt: Yes</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Assists department director in management of department operations. Coordinates administration of patient care activities utilized in department. Directly manages program development and daily clinical operations for North Oaks Rehabilitation Services. . Directs administration of support staff, physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, speech/language/dysphagia therapy, exercises and treatment techniques utilized in Rehabilitation Services as prescribed by a physician. Organize communication of information among patients, visitors, physicians and staff. Direct clinical education programs in conjunction with institutions of higher learning providing for professional training in the rehabilitation field. Coordinate with other departments as necessary to provide the highest standard for the patient experience.</p> <p>Other information:</p> <ol> <li> <p>3-5 years' experience as a staff therapist with some supervisory experience preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Specialized or Technical Education Required: Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy/occupational therapy/speech therapy/audiology or nursing. Current Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech Pathologist required. National Certification preferred if Occupational Therapist.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>License and registration as required. </li><li>Continuing education in management preferred. </li><li>Expertise in Word and Excel </li><li>Proficiency in computer usage, grammar, punctuation, typing and spelling with the necessary skills to effectively prepare administrative reports and outgoing correspondence in a professional manner. </li><li>Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to deal effectively with all levels of management, medical staff, nursing staff, and hospital employees. </li><li>Excellent analytical skills </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Manual or Physical Skill Required: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Must be capable of performing all areas of skill required in the day-to-day management of rehabilitation office operations. </li><li>Will require lifting and moving skills. </li></ul> <p>Physical Effort Required:</p> <p>Strength: Light</p> <p>Push: Occasionally</p> <p>Pull: Occasionally</p> <p>Carry: Occasionally</p> <p>Lift: Occasionally</p> <p>Sit: Constantly</p> <p>Stand: Occasionally Walk: Occasionally</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Keeps Rehabilitation Services Department Director informed of activities, needs, and problems on timely basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that individual site management decisions are integrated with those of other sites to promote cohesiveness and uniformity of functions within the service line.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in directing and implementing policies and procedures for site operation, development of programs, review of site performance, effecting changes as needed, and assuring compliance with regulatory requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommend department operating budgets to Director and ensures that department operates within allocated funds. Maintain fiscal responsibility through budget adherence.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in selection, training/orientation, assignment, guidance, peer review and supervision of site and program staff, development of standards of performance and monitoring productivity, evaluation of performance and making recommendations for personnel actions. Encourage professional development for site and program personnel. Conduct in-service education programs for hospital and department staff on site.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate annual education/competency of Rehabilitation Services Therapy staff. Delegate assignments to clinical supervisor regarding clinical education for ongoing clinical education program. Promote educational experiences for professional staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify patient and client needs and develop quality Rehabilitation programs to meet these needs; assure delivery of quality services for patients and clients. Be available for consultation. Teach patients, other staff members and student affiliates of rehabilitation therapy. Instruct subordinates, patients/families in the use of rehabilitation equipment or machinery. Manage caseload and therapist hours to suit needs of patients, clients and institution.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the development and maintenance of quality assurance records and techniques of, evaluation of equipment utilization, functional outcomes and performance, evaluation of treatment and reporting methods of the department, introduction and demonstration of new techniques, equipment, conducting and interpreting research findings to the staff. Represent department at conferences and working committees as directed. Meet with staff as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in meetings as directed. Establish and maintain communications within the department, with other hospital departments and external entities. Develop relationships with community agencies, groups, professional affiliations, etc. as is appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in maintenance of department facilities and equipment in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort and safety of patients, clients, and staff. Assist in evaluation and justification of equipment and supply needs and purchases, documentation of maintenance schedules, planning for use of space, purchasing new equipment, and obtaining outside services. Maintain and develop vendor relationships to enhance department efficiency.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain safety, infection and environmental control policies and procedures for the department.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain appropriate computer downtime operations. Create and analyze reports and graphs as necessary to enhance department operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and designated Rehabilitation Team Leaders. Direct the administration of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology, and support staff supervision.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify customer needs via patient satisfaction survey and develop action plans and redefine processes to enhance customer experiences. Create mechanisms to positively impact patient experience and Press Ganey scores for outpatient rehabilitation services.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify department needs to Director for marketing efforts and assist Human Resources and PR Dept in planning promotional materials and activities. Develop positive relationships with physician practices, other medical personnel, organizations, and businesses within the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyzes department volume/statistical performance, monitor productivity, and compares to established budget/targets. Maintains dept supplies and equipment for quality operations, can justify purchases and adhere to budgeted amounts; Provide decision-making support to meet budgetary targets; establish par levels and monitor the quality of items purchased.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage the staff communication mechanisms for Rehabilitation areas.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain professional growth and development.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as directed by the director or designee.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform duties of staff therapist as needed. Sets reasonable, functional goals and treatment plan with consideration for age, diagnosis, medical and psychosocial background.</p> </li><li> <p>Distribute all pertinent information to subordinate staff as received from other hospital departments. Schedule subordinate staff for all mandatory hospital functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote superior customer service by serving as a role model for customer service; Maintains good working relationships with patients, visitors, and employees; Builds teamwork within the department and timely follow-up with patients, family members, physicians, and staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor the supervision of physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, speech/language/dysphagia therapy activities and support staff. Direct revision and implementation of policies and procedures for physical therapy, occupational therapy and audiology/ speech/language/dysphagia therapy and support staff performance effecting changes as needed and assuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Keep the Rehabilitation Services Director informed of activities, needs, and problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate selection, training/orientation, assignment, guidance, and supervision of support staff, physical therapy, occupational therapy audiology and speech pathology staff development of standards of performance and monitoring recommendations for personnel actions. Encourage professional development of the physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, speech pathology and support staff personnel. Conduct in-service education programs for department staff. Distribute all pertinent information to subordinate staff as received from other hospital departments. Schedule subordinate assignment and supervision of physical therapy occupational therapy, audiology, speech therapy, and support staff volunteers. Review and authorize time-off requests and payroll.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify patient needs and develop quality Rehabilitation programs to meet the needs for delivering quality services for physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology and speech/language/dysphagia patients. Manage case load and therapist hours to suit needs of patients and institution.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain clinical education programs and its assignment to subordinate staff with duties to include:</p> </li></ol> <p>a. Contact affiliate universities to schedule student interns.</p> <p>b. Attend supervisory meetings at affiliate universities as necessary.</p> <p>c. Provide direct student supervision on site.</p> <p>d. Provide orientation to facility and departmental policies and procedures.</p> <p>e. Act as mediator for student and staff clinical instructor as needed.</p> <p>f. Perform midterm interview with all students and the acting CI to ensure satisfaction from both parties. If the supervisor is the acting CI then another professional will step in as the third party to offer an opportunity for the student to voice their unbiased opinion of their experience.</p> <p>g. Act as liaison between affiliated university and North Oaks Health System when fieldwork problems arise.</p> <p>h. Coordinate fieldwork performance reports and paperwork for closure of internship</p> <ol start="28"> <li> <p>Assist in the development and maintenance of quality assurance records and techniques of the department as it pertains to support staff, physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, and speech/language/dysphagia therapy. Perform evaluation of equipment utilization and performance; evaluation of treatment and reporting methods in compliance with documentation of new techniques, equipment; conducting and interpreting research findings to the staff. Represent physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and audiology and the department at conferences and working committees as directed. Meet with hospital/clinic staff as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare meeting agendas and lead meetings as necessary; Coordinate meetings as directed. Provide follow-up as necessary. Establish and maintain communications within, the Rehabilitation Services department and with other hospital departments. Develop relationships with community agencies, groups, professional affiliations, etc. as appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain department facilities and physical therapy and occupational therapy, audiology, speech pathology equipment in a condition to promote efficiency, health comfort and safety of patients/staff. Assist in evaluation and justification of equipment, supply needs and purchases; documentation of maintenance schedules; planning for use of space; purchasing new equipment and outside services and implementation of repairs. Approve requisitions for purchase of equipment and supplies within specified guidelines. Coordinate activities of vendors.</p> </li><li> <p>Determine needs for physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, speech therapy and support staff staffing to include holiday coverage, replacement coverage, priority staffing, leave of absence and other personnel issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Strive to enhance professional growth and development.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain confidentiality and promotes HIPPA compliance from all staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain safety, infection and environmental control policies and procedures for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology, and support staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain supplies, logs, and schedules as necessary for the daily operations of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology and support staff.</p> </li></ol>
