<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This position serves as the Northeast Region's Soils Engineer. This position is responsible for conducting soil surveys and other subsurface explorations needed to gather data to make recommendations for the effective use of soils and local materials in the development, construction and maintenance of improvements within the region; directing the activities of the Region Soils Team in subgrade investigations; completing geotechnical analysis of projects; and preparing soils reports and field investigation reports to recommend solutions to subgrade improvement and complex subsurface conditions.</p> <p>As the Regional Soils Engineer, the primary function of this job is to provide the geotechnical support to the Project Development Groups and Systems Operation Group. This position prepares Soil Reports, which contain soil engineering data and recommendations; reviews consultant work related to soils; and oversees the Statewide Bureau of Technical Services (BTS) performing soil investigation work in the Region. This position also provides support to the Regional Soils, Pavements, and Materials (SPAM) work units by assisting the regional pavement and materials engineer with their day-to-day activities and reviews when requested.</p> <p>To view the full position description, please reach out to Allie Strullmyer at allison.strullmyer@dot.wi.gov.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $92,768 - $112,236, plus excellent benefits. Plus, an additional $2,080 per year for a Professional Engineer License.</p> <p>A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Travel Requirements</p> <p>This position requires the ability to independently travel statewide with potential overnight stays at remote locations.</p> <p>Fieldwork Requirement</p> <p>This position requires fieldwork. This fieldwork can include working in all seasons, including adverse weather conditions and working in high volume traffic conditions, bending on a limited basis, and lifting approximately 70 lbs. and carrying this load approximately 50 feet over varying terrain.</p> <p>This state agency does not sponsor work visas.
