Look no further than the Pinellas County Solid Waste Department!</p> <p>Nature of Work:</p> <p>This is moderately complex work providing clerical support in one or more of the following areas: Customer Service, Accounting or Office Support. The employee supports departmental activities in a wide range of County programs, services and offices. An employee in this class is responsible for evaluating situations and inquiries in order to provide the most useful and appropriate information; explaining in general terms the procedures and functions of the various County and other governmental agencies; helping and assisting others and taking appropriate action or making proper referrals based upon this knowledge. Emphasis is placed upon exhibiting extreme tact and courtesy in handling customers and judgment is required in making frequent decisions. Decisions concerning departures from standard situations, practices and procedures may be referred to others for action. Instructions regarding work assignments, priorities and the application of office policies and procedures are generally provided by more senior staff; however, an employee in this class is expected to perform routine and standard everyday work assignments with basic guidance, exercising initiative and judgment based upon experience.</p> <p>What Would You Do?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Receives visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, assisting and directing them accordingly.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains office security by following procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor log book, announce visitors).</p> </li><li> <p>Responds to inquiries from citizens, employees and others via telephone, email, and instant message (live Chat), and provides accurate information or refers inquiries to the appropriate person, official or department.</p> </li></ul> <p>Receives and distributes incoming mail as well prepare outgoing mail for pick up by the postal service and county courier.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assists in scheduling the use of conference rooms and department vehicles utilizing Microsoft Outlook.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains inventory and stock of office supplies for all divisions of the department.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides uniform ordering support for departmental staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates and maintains office equipment including printers and copiers. Reports usage and verifies and records billing on a monthly basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates printing needs for the department.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides administrative support with duties such as filing, data entry, drafting correspondence, copying/scanning and faxing.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists senior administrative staff with various clerical tasks.</p> </li></ul> <p>What Do You Need To Have?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Two (2) years of office support experience dealing with administrative matters, customer accounts and service problems, general clerical and experience in the use of computers and general office equipment; or</p> </li><li> <p>Associate's degree, trade school, or vocational training degree, diploma, or certificate that includes training or experience as described above; or</p> </li><li> <p>An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.</p> </li><li> <p>Although a driver's license is not required, the incumbent is responsible to get to and from offsite meetings and trainings. The Solid Waste facility is located at 3095 114th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33716</p> </li></ul> <p>Licensure / Certification</p> <ul> <li> <p>National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100 and 700 Training within one (1) year of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>OSHA 10 hour General Industry certification within one (1) year of hire.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in keyboarding accurately at a reasonable rate of speed.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to receive the public with tact, patience and courtesy.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to sort paperwork, file and otherwise acquire information to perform basic office assistance.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to perform computer data entry and word processing functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to understand and carry out basic and written instructions and keep records.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to compose and prepare routine communications.</p> </li></ul> <p>Why choose Pinellas County?</p> <p>When you join Pinellas County, you're not just taking on a job-you're investing in your future.
