Maintains the integrity and quality of the specimen throughout collection and transportation. Responsible for the safety and comfort of patients.</p> <p>EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <ol> <li>Interact courteously and professionally with laboratory customers; respond to requests promptly. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="2"> <li>Procure blood specimens by venipuncture, heel stick, and fingerstick, following patient identification procedures. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="3"> <li>Instruct patients on specimen collection procedures, including non-blood samples as needed. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="4"> <li>Demonstrate dependability and reliability, prioritizing tasks to meet departmental needs. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="5"> <li>Collect and transport specimens, adhering to safety procedures. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="6"> <li>Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies, including quality control, safety, and hygiene protocols, this includes appropriate PPE. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="7"> <li>Perform related clerical duties, entering accurate demographic and test information create tracking logs into systems. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="8"> <li>If applicable, perform testing. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="9"> <li>Train and orient new employees and students as required. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="10"> <li>Notify technical staff and supervisors of any unusual or problematic incidents. Monitor and maintain supplies, using materials efficiently to control costs. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="11"> <li>Participate in continuing education for phlebotomy to ensure the latest techniques and safety protocols are followed. Maintain confidentiality according to healthcare laws and regulations. </li></ol> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>EDUCATION</p> <p>High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of phlebotomy and Medical Terminology.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Completion of an approved phlebotomy certification program, or equivalent experience acquired through on-the-job training.</p> <p>LICENSURE</p> <p>Certification in phlebotomy preferred but not required.</p> <p>SPECIAL SKILLS</p> <p>Basic computer and keyboarding skills required.
