<p>Job Title: Middle School Math Teacher</p> <p>Reports to: Principal</p> <p>Location: Guilmette Middle School</p> <p>Job Type: This is a full-time non-exempt salaried position, 183 Days (LTU)</p> <p>Welcome to Lawrence Public Schools</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is committed to ensuring that ALL students successfully master the content and skills necessary to graduate from high school, college, and/or career ready. These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Come join the team at Guilmette Middle School (GMS)! This math teaching position is a part of the math and grade-level team and plays a vital role in closing the achievement gap. The teacher will support students in small groups, individually, and as a whole class to ensure standards-based and rigorous instruction, appropriate supports, and necessary accommodations are in place. GMS utilizes the Match Fishtank curriculum to drive high-quality math instruction. The role reports to the Principal and collaborates closely with grade-level teams, ESL educators, and special education staff.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Teach, reinforce, and remediate academic content to ensure student mastery in small groups and whole-class settings </li><li>Implement curriculum and activities aligned to MA Frameworks and Common Core standards </li><li>Design and administer assessments that measure student progress toward academic goals </li><li>Use assessment data to adjust instruction and refine lesson plans </li><li>Collaborate effectively with grade-level teams, ESL, and special education staff </li><li>Provide appropriate supports, accommodations, and differentiated instruction for diverse learners </li><li>Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, and colleagues </li><li>Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom culture with high expectations for all students </li><li>Manage student behavior constructively and create classroom routines that support learning </li><li>Participate in ongoing professional development, school events, and grade-level planning </li><li>Ensure compliance with school, district, and state policies and regulations </li><li>Complete other responsibilities as assigned by school leadership </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Passionate belief in the mission of Lawrence Public Schools and Guilmette Middle School </li><li>Commitment to the academic and personal success of all students </li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented school environment </li><li>Strong collaboration skills and willingness to share best practices </li><li>Deep understanding of math instruction for grades 5-8 </li><li>Ability to effectively support diverse learners, including ELLs and students with IEPs </li><li>Capacity to create a culturally responsive and equitable classroom </li><li>Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills </li><li>Familiarity with SEI practices and Massachusetts RETELL requirements </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred </li><li>Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Mathematics (Grades 5-8) or eligibility to obtain licensure </li><li>SEI endorsement or willingness to obtain </li><li>Minimum of 1-2 years teaching experience preferred, especially in urban public schools </li><li>Experience working with diverse learners, including English Language Learners </li><li>Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
