Our employees play a vital role in advancing sustainability, environmental justice, and clean energy solutions, ensuring a positive and lasting impact on Massachusetts and its residents.</p> <p>BWR Wastewater Program - Sanitary and Industrial Wastewater Risk Assessment</p> <p>Wastewater treatment plants range from small privately-owned facilities treating sanitary wastewater from a housing development to large regional facilities treating millions of gallons a day of sanitary and industrial wastewater. Plants owned by municipalities are commonly called Publicly-Owned Treatment Plants, or POTWs. In cooperation with local and federal authorities, MassDEP regulates many types of wastewater treatment plants.</p> <p>The selected intern will assist program staff with the following:</p> <ul> <li>Help and assist in identifying potential risks within the wastewater streams and develop protocols to minimize risks and ensure quick responses to inquiries and incidents. </li><li>Help and assist by working with communities on all aspects of wastewater management and related projects and permits. </li><li>Assist and help in reviewing plans and specifications for wastewater related permits. </li><li>Assist and help with Title 5 hotline inquiries. </li><li>Assist and help in compliance reviews of projects and wastewater operations, maintenance, and requirements under 310 CMR 15.000 and 314 CMR 18.000. </li></ul> <p>Required - Cover letter and Resume</p> <p>First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the basic principles of sanitary and environmental engineering related to wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software. </li><li>Strong technical writing skills. </li><li>Interest in learning about Massachusetts regulatory programs as they relate to wastewater. </li><li>Ability to work independently, and in an organized manner with strong attention to detail </li></ul> <p>Comprehensive Benefits</p> <p>When you embark on a career with the Commonwealth, you are offered an outstanding suite of employee benefits that add to the overall value of your compensation package.
