<p>Primary Purpose:</p> <p>Help special education teacher provide for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in special education setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education/Certification:</p> <p>Associate's degree, two years (48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment requirements</p> <p>Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification will be recommended by the district upon hire</p> <p>Special Knowledge and Skills:</p> <p>Ability to work with children with disabilities</p> <p>Ability to follow verbal and written instructions</p> <p>Ability to communicate effectively</p> <p>Knowledge of general office equipment</p> <p>Basic first aid knowledge and CPR</p> <p>Minimum Experience</p> <p>Prior experience working with children</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:</p> <p>Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Moderate walking, standing, heavy lifting and carrying of students up to 53 pounds; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
