This position performs highly advanced professional engineering work. Work is performed with a considerable degree of independence under the general supervision of the Senior Engineer.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>General Functions</p> <p>Performs advanced engineering work. Provides supervision over one or more major engineering activities. This is advanced professional engineering work with extensive supervisory duties. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for supervising subordinates in one or more phases of engineering. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the designated supervisor.</p> <p>Representative Duties/Assignments</p> <p>Project Management for assigned projects or programs to include.</p> <ul> <li>Assists in procuring professional engineering services for capital improvement projects, to include developing scopes of services and fee negotiations. </li><li>Reviews construction plans, reports and design calculations for compliance with Florida Department of Transportation Standards, including Florida Greenbook, FDOT Design Manual and Orange County policies. </li><li>Assists in managing design contracts including project budget, project schedule </li></ul> <p>and change orders.</p> <ul> <li>Performs engineering designfor minor projects. </li><li>Coordinates right-of-way acquisition, utility adjustment and permitting. </li><li>Assists in preparing bid documents and provides technical support during construction. </li><li>Assists in negotiating and implementing agreements such as utility relocation. </li><li>Participates and organizes public meetings. </li><li>Hurricane preparation and damage assessment. </li><li>Any other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Engineer I:</p> <p>Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.. InLieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.</p> <p>Engineer II:</p> <p>Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with at least one year of experience in Civil Engineering.InLieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.</p> <p>Engineer Ill:</p> <p>Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) years of experience in Civil Engineering and Project Management.
