<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION</p> <p>Library Media Specialist</p> <p>DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Full-time Library Media Specialist will serve in the implementation of the district's research-based literacy programs in the library and in the Unified Arts planning meetings. Additionally, Library Media Specialist will support the growth of students' interest in and love of reading by increasing the district's circulation of reading resources. The Library Media Specialist must have a thorough knowledge of literacy content and research-based instructional strategies.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction in literacy and use of technology, including keyboarding, in school libraries during the UA rotation in grades Pre K - 2 </li><li>Assist teachers in the creation of classroom environments that support content instruction. </li><li>Support the implementation of the district and school improvement plans. </li><li>Work with central office staff, building administrators, and teachers to select, obtain, implement, and manage appropriate resources and materials. </li><li>Attend professional development on content, instructional pedagogy, and the coaching role. </li><li>Attend professional development on technology integration and the expanded use of technology in content area instruction. </li><li>Meet regularly with building administrators to review student performance data, develop strategies to address the needs of learners, and receive input on priorities for the coming week. </li><li>Meet regularly with the Alliance team and the Superintendent or designee to review coaching logs, share input from building administrators, and develop plans for the coming week. </li><li>Perform other duties related to content area instructional improvement and student learning as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>CT Certification in Media Specialist or DSAP eligible </li><li>Knowledge of Common Core Curriculum Standards and frameworks </li><li>Knowledge of Connecticut Common Core of Teaching </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <ul> <li>Per the contract with Winchester Education Association. </li><li>Pay Ranges $44,147.00 - $97,776.00 </li></ul> <p>EVALUATION</p> <ul> <li>The building principal shall perform the evaluation. </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Must pass federal and local background checks. </li><li>Must have reliable transportation. </li><li>Must complete all pre-employment requirements before the start date. </li><li>Must be able to lift 50 pounds </li></ul> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE</p> <p>Please visit the Winchester Public Schools website to apply online at www.winchesterschools.org.
