<p>Responsible for the scheduling of OR surgery/procedure cases. Contacts insurance providers to obtain pre-authorization of surgical procedures and diagnostic testing. Provides support to front office operations to ensure smooth flow of patient care.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all OR surgeries and procedures, to include </li></ul> <p>pre-op, medical clearance, and post-op appointments.</p> <ul> <li>Verifies patient demographics and obtains pre-certifications for all surgeries and procedures from insurance carriers. </li><li>Instructs patients on procedure protocol and responds to patient's questions and concerns. </li><li>Acts as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for the communication of clinical data and to determine OR scheduling. </li><li>Ensures that all pre-op processes and forms are completed and forwarded to the OR. </li><li>Functions as a back-up to the front office staff as necessary. </li><li>Performs automated functions that fall within job responsibility. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, patient relations and telephone skills required </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records/systems </li><li>Familiarity with commercial insurance processes </li><li>Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy </li><li>Ability to multi-task </li></ul> <p>Minimum requirements:</p> <p>High school diploma or GED. At least three years of scheduling experience, with two years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a medical practice environment.</p>
