We're dedicated to empowering our staff through professional development, tuition reimbursement, and career pathways that support your advancement in the field of special education.</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>The Certified Special Education Teacher works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. You will plan, organize, and facilitate all student instruction while supervising students and staff. With the support of a transdisciplinary team, you'll develop, implement, and monitor programs that enhance students' functional academic, vocational, social, and activities of daily living (ADL) skills to promote independence and quality of life.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree </li><li>Valid Connecticut Department of Education Special Education Teacher Certification </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Generous paid vacation, sick, and personal time, plus paid holidays </li><li>Affordable medical, dental, and vision benefits (Oak Hill funds 50% of your medical deductible in an HSA) </li><li>403(b) retirement plan (Oak Hill contributes 9.5% at no cost to you) </li><li>Free and low-cost life insurance options and free long-term disability insurance </li><li>Excellent professional development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and career pathways </li><li>Staff recognition and appreciation programs </li><li>Paid training, education, and certification as necessary (including CPR training) </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) based on formal and informal student assessments, incorporating medical, behavioral, and recreational activities according to each student's Planning and Placement Team (PPT) recommendations </li><li>Complete student assessments and ecological inventories with goals supporting the interdisciplinary team process </li><li>Implement instructional content for academic, ADL, behavioral, and therapeutic programs developed by the transdisciplinary team </li><li>Coordinate and write student schedules outlining daily routines </li><li>Write and submit quarterly progress reports and participate in quarterly meetings with parents </li><li>Lead students to construct meaning and apply new learning through differentiated and evidence-based strategies that meet individual needs </li><li>Assess student learning and provide feedback to students, parents, and support staff </li><li>Plan instructional content aligned with standards that builds on students' prior knowledge and provides appropriate challenge levels </li><li>Complete thematic planning, master schedules, and scaffolded instruction </li><li>Collaborate in transdisciplinary meetings to exchange information, evaluate progress, and determine program modifications </li><li>Lead, encourage, and inspire classroom team members through training, evaluation, monthly one-on-one supervisory meetings, and annual performance evaluations </li></ul> <p>Oak Hill is an Equal Opportunity Employer.</p> <p>We support equality and advancement of all people based on their qualifications and actions alone,</p> <p>without regard to color, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability.</p>
