<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>A parent educator works with families and children from prenatal to kindergarten entry using skills in partnering, facilitating and reflecting with parents. Provide parent education and family support to enhance the quality of parenting, increase a parent's understanding of child development and work with parents to help their child learn, grow and develop to meet their full potential. Conduct home visits with families, plan group activities, and maintain reports and partnerships.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's Degree in Humanities, Social Work, Early Childhood, Human Development and Family Studies preferred; or </li><li>A two year associate degree in early childhood or a two-year certificate program in Early Childhood, Child Development, Nursing or similar experience </li></ul> <p>Experience and Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Supervision experience working with Birth to Five and their families, required </li><li>Knowledge of School Readiness State Guidelines </li><li>Must be willing to become certified in the Parents As Teachers program and undergo professional development in Help Me Grow Ages and Stages Program, developmental screening and ESL </li><li>Must have flexible work schedule </li><li>Knowledge of Google, helpful </li><li>Presentation skills, required </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with PAT: Parent as Teachers </li><li>Raising Readers Programming, experience beneficial </li><li>Must exhibit independent thinking and be self-motivated </li><li>Be comfortable visiting families in a variety of home environments </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Perform daytime and early evening home visits as family schedule requires </li><li>Develop and maintain a community resource network with partners including Adult Education & Windsor School Readiness Council </li><li>Plan & implement playgroups including language based activities, arts & crafts, story and circle time </li><li>Maintain consistent and positive communication with families, partners, staff and supervisors </li><li>Plan and execute weekly playgroups </li><li>Attend staff meetings as scheduled and one-to-one meetings with supervisor </li><li>Plan group connections throughout the grant cycle to deliver parent education workshops for families </li><li>Maintain data collection of activity attendance and registration of families, including intake of school readiness </li><li>Organize and maintain family files, attendance records, and maintain confidentiality </li><li>Participate in recruitment activities of families </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned relative to the position </li></ul> <p>Hours and Pay Rate:</p> <ul> <li>Part-time position (up to 25 hours a week); </li><li>Hours worked will be flexible and will include some evenings, possible Saturdays and some summer hours to provide personal visits, screening and group connections; </li><li>$20 per hour with no benefits </li></ul> <p>Reports to: Family Resource Center Coordinator</p> <p>Work Locations: LP Wilson and Oliver Ellsworth School</p> <p>Apply Online...www.windsorct.org</p> <p>Windsor Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Windsor Public Schools are committed to a policy of equal opportunity/affirmative action for all qualified persons.
