Placement will be on the C3 Salary Schedule with a range of $52,613-$103,055, dependent on education and applicable, verifiable work experience. Placement is determined by the President, Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees Policy, and salary schedule guidelines. A hired applicant with an earned doctorate would earn $2,000 per annum, prorated monthly. (The additional benefits package of this position totals an estimated 30% of the salary amount.) The work week is Monday through Friday, with evening and weekend work required at times to ensure student, faculty, and program needs are met. Hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibility: No</p> <p>Start Date: Spring 2026JOB TITLE: Instructional Designer</p> <p>FUNCTION: The primary purpose of the Instructional Designer is to assist the Dean of Instruction and QEP Coordinator with a variety of instructional design functions related to the planning, development, and delivery of courses. This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing engaging learning experiences and training programs for full-time and part-time faculty members. This position involves collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs), creating instructional materials, and leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes. The Instructional Designer will comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC).</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain updated knowledge of accessibility standards and create plans for implementing those standards in online courses </li><li>Maintain updated knowledge of accreditation and quality assurance standards, such as Suny OSCQR Rubric and the NACC Distance Education Rubric. </li><li>Work with instructional technology tools to design interactive learning content </li><li>Manage multiple projects working with subject matter experts to design and build online courses </li><li>Research instructional design theories and tools for applicability in online teaching and learning </li><li>Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and learning theories to create effective learning experiences. </li><li>Collaborate with stakeholders and SMEs to assess learning needs and objectives </li><li>Design and develop instructional content, including e-learning modules, interactive courses, assessments, manuals, and guides </li><li>Incorporate multimedia elements such as videos, graphics, animations, and simulations into learning materials. </li><li>Manage course review process in collaboration with the Distance Education Committee </li><li>Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other platforms to deliver, track, and evaluate training programs </li><li>Measure and assess the impact of training through feedback, assessments, and performance data </li><li>Revise and improve training materials based on learner feedback and changing needs </li><li>Work with cross-functional teams, including trainers, IT, HR, and project managers, to ensure alignment of training content with organizational goals </li><li>Compile annual Quality Enhancement Plan Impact Report for the Institutional Management and Planning Committee </li><li>Lead audits of existing courses and web content to assess Web Content Accessibility Guidelines compliance </li><li>Provide faculty training, templates, and consultations to ensure new and existing materials that are digitally accessible </li><li>Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies </li><li>Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College </li><li>Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education </li><li>Recruit students for Northeast Alabama Community College </li><li>Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College </li><li>Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community </li><li>Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College </li><li>Perform other duties assigned by the Dean of Instruction and/or President </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of relevant instructional design concepts and processes </li><li>Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, Section 508). </li><li>Proficiency in using LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L) and related instructional technologies </li><li>Strong project management and organizational skills </li><li>Ability to utilize multiple resources in problem-solving </li><li>Ability to work independently </li><li>Excellent organizational skills </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills to interact with faculty, staff, and students </li><li>Skill in written and oral communication </li><li>Computer literacy, including skills in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc </li><li>Ability to send and receive verbal and written messages </li><li>Understanding of and personal commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field is required </li><li>Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering faculty development programs at a postsecondary institution. </li><li>Knowledge of established policies and procedures of the college </li></ul> <p>Application Procedures/Additional Information:</p> <p>IMPORTANT!!! - Read all of the following information very carefully before you submit an application.
