You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.</p> <p>This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 30, 2025. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be in October 30, 2025, with subsequent cut-off dates on the 15th of each month. Eligible applications receive after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until position are filled.</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>The Orlando VA Healthcare System is looking for experienced Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLSs) to join their Pathology and Laboratory Service for the Evening Shift, Lake Nona Receiving/Referral Esoteric Testing/Distribution</p> <p>(Send Out) at the Orlando VAMC-Lake Nona, and Viera VA Clinic-in. The Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist is a qualified and experienced CLS who facilitates team or unit processes by working in collaboration with team members to ensure that tasks, priorities, goals, and achievements are coordinated with management. The incumbent must have the advanced knowledge of specialized and complex subject matter extending beyond the duties of test performance. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of operation in their area of specialty including preparation and maintenance of records and reports, analysis of testing methodologies, training, instrumentation, and compliance. Some of the assigned duties are:</p> <ul> <li>Acts as liaison to other departments of the medical center for the appropriate laboratory specialty. </li><li>Performs waived and nonwaived testing on a variety of clinical biological specimens using manual or automated techniques. </li><li>Responsible for the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical specimen testing phases of a complexity index group 1a laboratory. </li><li>Works independently and carries out the day-to-day laboratory operations on any assigned tour of duty. </li><li>The work performed may be in a variety of laboratory specialties/subspecialties (in one or multiple specialties) such as chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, virology, parasitology, mycology, serology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, flow cytometry, urinalysis, and molecular diagnostic testing. </li><li>May perform venipunctures for specimen collection, assist and/or work in reference testing (send out), lab specimen collections/receiving, laboratory specimen preservation and processing. </li><li>Rotates on a regular basis through multiple assigned laboratory specialties. </li><li>Evaluates the suitability of the specimen for analysis and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis ensuring physiologic processes and requirements. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule Lake Nona (Evening Shift): Monday Through Friday, 3:00pm -1130pm, with rotating weekends and Holidays. Additional hours as necessary based on the needs of the facility.</p> <p>Work Schedule Lake Nona Receiving/Referral Esoteric Testing/Distribution (Send Out): Monday through Friday, 9:30am - 6:00pm, with rotating weekend and Holidays.
