<p>Job Description</p> <p>We are searching for a Software Architect to join our team building a next-generation cloud platform based on a modern AI-powered API-first microservices architecture. This role demands a developer who is passionate about building innovative solutions that deliver real customer value and has a foundation in back-end technologies, coupled with a fervor for creating high-performing, scalable, secure, and resilient applications. The ideal candidate must have excellent technical skills and first principles thinking.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Design, implement, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot. </li><li>Architect and deploy applications on AWS (EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, etc.). </li><li>Collaborate within and across teams including product management, DevOps/SecOps, frontend software engineers, and as needed with sales engineering, customer services, and customers. </li><li>Participate in code reviews, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and uphold high engineering standards. </li><li>Analyze system performance and implement optimizations for reliability and scalability. </li><li>Contribute to architectural decision-making for new and existing systems. </li><li>Ensure security best practices and information security requirements (e.g., SOC 2) are followed. </li><li>Keep abreast of relevant technology trends and advancements that can be leveraged. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>8+ years of professional experience in software development. </li><li>Strong proficiency in the latest Java versions and Spring Boot. </li><li>Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud infrastructure. </li><li>Comprehensive understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. </li><li>Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows. </li><li>Proficiency in version control using Git in conjunction with SQL and Postgres. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with React for building user interfaces. </li><li>Familiarity with the Rust programming language. </li><li>Understanding or hands-on experience with H3 Index for geospatial data indexing. </li><li>Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). </li><li>Experience with event-driven architecture. </li><li>Experience with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and LoRa (Long Range) devices. </li><li>Proven track record with Agile/SCRUM methodologies. </li><li>Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities. </li><li>Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills. </li><li>A transparent approach to feedback and constructive criticism. </li><li>Must possess a growth mindset and love to collaborate within and across teams to deliver innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment. </li></ul> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Permanent position based out of Brookfield, WI.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive insurance (medical, dental, vision) • 401(k) plan with company match • Paid sick, holiday, and vacation days • Flexible work schedule • Education Assistance </li></ul> <p>Workplace Type</p> <p>This is a fully onsite position in Brookfield,WI.</p> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>This position is anticipated to close on Dec 26, 2025.</p> <p>About Actalent</p> <p>Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
