Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes in the secondary classroom.</p> <p>Instructors will teach diverse High School students career and technical education courses as outlined in the program of study. These courses are determined by the program approval which is approved by the Colorado Community College System. Instructors will teach students various careers related to the pathway they teach. Instruction will be real-world, hands-on, and project-based for authentic job related experience. Instructors are required to sponsor a Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and maintain (with assistance) an Advisory Board for all program changes and updates. In conjunction with the Career Development team, instructors will assist with facilitating internships, job shadows, mentorships, college visits, and overall connections with Industry Personnel in the field.</p> <p>Notice to Applicants: This vacancy is at a school designated as an "Innovation School." Please note: You must submit all relevant documentation via onboarding before the deadline (15 days after receiving your offer letter) for salary setting purposes. </li><li>In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding in the career field of study. </li><li>Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy. </li><li>Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. </li><li>Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems. </li><li>Prepare educational lesson plans, course outlines, objectives and materials in order to meet state or college competencies. </li><li>Presents subject matter using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, project-based, industry related, problem solving) and technology in order to adapt to varied learning styles. </li><li>Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement and career planning. </li><li>Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and administers and evaluates tests and assignments. </li><li>Maintains program compliance with program approval, which includes serving as an advisor to the appropriate career & technical student organization (CTSO) and maintaining a program advisory committee. </li><li>Maintains and supervises use of any lab/technology equipment. </li><li>As part of EngineeringConnect, the Engineering pathway is designed to develop student skills in problem solving, spatial reasoning, design thinking, computer aided drafting, electronics, mechanics and more in order to prepare students for careers in various engineering fields. </li><li>This instructor may teach courses from the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum that may include Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Digital Electronics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Civil and Architectural Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, Computer Science Principles, and Engineering Design and Development. </li><li>During these courses, students will be trained in CAD software such as Inventor and Solidworks and may have the opportunity to earn industry certifications. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or related industry credential. Bachelor's degree acceptable for certain content areas, required; In some content areas, must have completed or be willing to complete required curriculum training related to content. </li><li>Master's Degree in related field preferred in all content areas and required for certain content areas with college coursework </li><li>Three (3+) years of professional industry experience in the content area within the past 7 years or in the time designated by the Colorado Department of Education. </li><li>Three (3+) years of experience working with diverse populations. </li><li>Adjunct status with a community college in the content area, strongly preferred. </li><li>Must possess or have the ability to acquire appropriate secondary Career and Technical Education authorization/endorsement from Colorado Department of Education. </li><li>Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred. </li><li>May need to attend additional training for industry or curriculum during summer or school year. </li><li>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. </li><li>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. </li><li>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position. </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
