<p>Department Overview</p> <p>CHH2 OCU provides care to adolescent through geriatric patients ranging from 14-100+ who have a variety of diagnoses which require surgical interventions and recovery for Red/Green/Gold/Blue Surgery, Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT), Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, Urology, Gynecology, ElectroPhysiology (EP)/Cardiac Catheterization (Cath)/Interventional Radiology (IR), Urogynecology, Oculoplastics, Vascular, and Ophthalmology. Department Specific Working Conditions: Exposure to chemotherapy, and isolated conditions for which staff is provided education and protective equipment to minimize risk.</p> <p>This position also comes with great benefits! Covered at 100% of the cost for full-time employees and 88% for dependents. </li><li>$50K of term life insurance provided at no cost to the employee </li><li>Two separate above market pension plans to choose from </li><li>Vacation - 192 to 288 hours per year depending on length of service, prorated for part-time </li><li>Holidays - up to 64 holiday hours per calendar year (employees accrue .0308 holiday hours for each hour paid - included in vacation accruals) </li><li>Sick Leave - 96 hours per year, prorated for part-time </li><li>Substantial public transportation discounts (Tri-met and C-Tran) </li><li>Tuition Reimbursement </li><li>Innovative Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including extensive wellness resources </li></ul> <p>Function/Duties of Position</p> <p>CHH2 OCU provides care to adolescent through geriatric patients ranging from 14-100+ who have a variety of diagnoses which require surgical interventions and recovery for Red/Green/Gold/Blue Surgery, Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT), Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, Urology, Gynecology, ElectroPhysiology (EP)/Cardiac Catheterization (Cath)/Interventional Radiology (IR), Urogynecology, Oculoplastics, Vascular, and Ophthalmology.</p> <ul> <li>Red/Green/Gold/Blue Surgery: </li><li>Laparoscopic appendectomy </li><li>Laparoscopic cholecystectomy </li><li>Laparoscopic hernia repairs </li><li>Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT): </li><li>Thyroidectomy </li><li>Parathyroidectomy </li><li>Sinus surgery </li><li>Limited neck dissections </li><li>Orthopedics: </li><li>Foot and ankle procedures </li><li>Total shoulder replacement </li><li>Laminectomy </li><li>Total knee replacement </li><li>Simple fracture repair </li><li>Orthopedic hardware removal </li><li>Posterior and Anterior total Hip Replacements </li><li>Neurosurgery: </li><li>Laminectomy </li><li>1-2 level ACDF's </li><li>Plastics: </li><li>Breast reduction and reconstruction </li><li>Panniculectomy </li><li>Gender affirming surgeries </li><li>Urology: </li><li>Ureteral stent placement </li><li>Nephrostomy tube placement </li><li>Transurethral radical prostatectomy (TURP) </li><li>Gender affirming surgeries </li><li>Gynecology: </li><li>Mastectomy </li><li>Laparoscopic surgeries </li><li>ElectroPhysiology (EP)/Cardiac Catheterization (Cath)/Interventional Radiology (IR): </li><li>Ablation </li><li>Pacemaker placement </li><li>Urogynecology: </li><li>Oculoplastics: </li><li>Vascular </li><li>Ophthalmology </li></ul> <p>OCU provides care for a variety of surgical observation patients who require monitoring after day surgery procedures for pain control, postop nausea and vomiting, surgical site monitoring or other indications.</p> <p>Exposure to chemotherapy, and isolated conditions for which staff is provided education and protective equipment to minimize risk.</p> <p>Department Specific Requirements (competencies, equipment, certifications, etc.):</p> <p>Elsevier imPULSE Excellence in Acute Coronary Syndrome</p> <p>Nursing Care for Patients with Radial Arterial Access</p> <p>HaemoBank 101</p> <p>Continuous Bladder Irrigation</p> <p>Fill and Pull, Retrograde Filling of a Foley Catheter Procedure</p> <p>Mobility Kcard</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date. </li><li>ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. </li><li>Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire </li><li>Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License </li><li>BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation. </li><li>Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Clinical experience caring for post-surgical patients as an RN, student or other capacity. </li><li>Certified in Medical-Surgical Nursing. </li><li>BSN is preferred. </li><li>Experience in a high-level acuity medical facility. </li></ul> <p>Additional Details</p> <p>Length of Orientation - New Graduate Nurse</p> <ul> <li>External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week. </li><li>Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Residency Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for about 10-26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply. </li></ul> <p>Length of Orientation - Experienced Nurse</p> <ul> <li>External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week. </li><li>Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area.
