With a vision to be the recognized leader in educating built environment professionals, the department connects students, practitioners, allied professions, and the public.</p> <p>Sinclair is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty for day, evening, and weekends to teach the following courses at Madison Correctional Institution in London, Ohio:</p> <ul> <li>Architectural Graphics: Introduction to various graphic media tools and techniques, including sketching, manual drafting, and computer assisted drafting as appropriate to the built environment. Includes developing 3D visualization and analysis skills. </li><li>Residential Electrical Systems: Basic safety procedures, use of power and hand tools, electrical circuit theory and basics of residential wiring observing current National Electric Code (NEC) </li><li>OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety: Rules, interpretations, record keeping and standards required by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) (29CFR Part 1926) for the construction industry to ensure employees a safe, healthful workplace. Successful completion of the course provides the 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Card </li></ul> <p>The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,016 per credit hour assigned to teach. This position description does not represent in any way a contract of employment. </li></ul> <p>Principal Accountabilities</p> <ul> <li>Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department </li><li>Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning and safety </li><li>Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies </li><li>Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate </li><li>Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student's needs </li><li>Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success </li><li>Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student progress </li><li>Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of student information </li><li>Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field, OR commensurate industry certification, OR an associate's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant work/teaching experience </li><li>Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level </li><li>Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community and student population </li><li>Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction </li><li>Must be able to teach face-to-face in a prison education setting </li><li>Ability to pass a DRC background check required </li></ul> <p>Official transcripts for all post-secondary degrees (if applicable) and successful completion of a background check will be required prior to date of hire.</p>
