<p>The incumbent of this position is a Motor Vehicle Operator assigned to the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, Transportation Section of Engineering Service. Incumbent must possess a State Operator's Permit, Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Medical Certificate endorsement. Licensing information must be clearly stated on your resume or you will not be considered for this position.</p> <p>Primary duties include, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Operate and perform operator maintenance on truck tractor, with semi-trailers that have approximate gross vehicle weight of 26,000.1 pounds or more. </li><li>Compile all necessary data to fill out all mileage reports, and fuel reports on a daily basis. </li><li>Independently arranges for routine maintenance of vehicle and informs the supervisor of these repairs. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining the vehicle in a clean, safe, operating condition, fluid capacities. </li><li>Conducts pre-operation inspections, and maintenance requirements for servicing. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining Class A vehicle in a clean, safe, operating condition. </li><li>Determine the correct turning radius of the truck tractor/semi-trailer combination, Class A Vehicles. </li><li>Able to back the trailer into loading docks, between other trailers, and in narrow, congested locations around warehouses and parking areas. </li><li>Independently arranges for routine maintenance of vehicle and informs the supervisor of these repairs, or safety concerns. </li><li>Operates the Class A vehicle on interstate highways, winding roads, and steep grades and manipulates the dual braking system to prevent the semi-trailer from jackknifing. </li><li>Safe Driving record, and current class A license.
