<p>Title Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Clinical Medicine - General Intenral Medicine and Geriatrics Specific Title Program Director - Clinical Informatics Fellowship Appointment Type Clinical Track Faculty Department IUSM - Medicine - General Internal Medicine Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis Position Summary</p> <p>The Indiana University School of Medicine, in conjunction with Regenstrief Institute Clem McDonald Center for Biomedical Informatics, is seeking a visionary and experienced physician leader to serve as the Program Director for its ACGME-accredited Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program. The Program Director will oversee all aspects of the fellowship, ensuring compliance with ACGME requirements, fostering excellence in education, and advancing the field of clinical informatics through innovative training and research. The Program Director will have a primary appointment as an open rank clinical faculty position in the IU School of Medicine. The Director will further have a secondary appointment as an Associate Director for Education with the Regenstrief Center for Biomedical Informatics. The physician leader will have the opportunity to practice in the IUSM-affiliated health systems. Candidates can have any clinical specialty, and they must be an existing Diplomat in Clinical Informatics.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Program Leadership & Administration </li><li>Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the CI fellowship curriculum. </li><li>Ensure compliance with ACGME accreditation standards and institutional policies. </li><li>Lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding of CI fellows. </li><li>Manage program budget and resources in collaboration with programmatic and departmental leadership as appropriate. </li><li>Educational Oversight </li><li>Develop and deliver didactic and experiential learning opportunities in clinical informatics. </li><li>Supervise fellows' scholarly activities and clinical rotations. </li><li>Provide mentorship and career guidance to fellows. </li><li>Evaluate fellows' performance and provide regular feedback. </li><li>Faculty Development & Collaboration </li><li>Recruit and develop a faculty team with expertise in informatics, clinical care, and research in coordination with the Regenstrief Center for Biomedical Informatics and IU department chair. </li><li>Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and institutions. </li><li>Quality Improvement & Innovation </li><li>Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement in education and clinical informatics practice. </li><li>Lead initiatives that integrate informatics into clinical workflows to improve patient care. </li><li>Research & Scholarship </li><li>Support fellows in conducting informatics-related research and publishing findings. </li><li>Maintain an active scholarly presence in the field of clinical informatics. </li></ul> <p>The Program Director will have sufficient resources to support the CI Fellowship, including:</p> <ul> <li>Start-up funds from the Regenstrief Institute to facilitate CI program growth. </li><li>Dedicated administrative effort for the CI Program from staff located at the Regenstrief Institute </li><li>Access to ample office space at the Regenstrief Institute with access to clinical space through the department and engaged health systems </li><li>CI Diplomat and other faculty associated with the Regenstrief Center for Biomedical Informatics excited to work with CI Fellows </li><li>An existing, robust curriculum adopted by health systems and the statewide health information exchange. </li><li>A variety of health services research and clinical research centers to develop collaborative relationships. </li><li>IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, an NCI designated Cancer Center with more than 330 investigators who lead over 300 clinical trials for adult and pediatric cancers. </li></ul> <p>This position is ideal for a collaborative and transformational leader with a passion for medical education and national recognition for teaching or service in clinical informatics. Individuals who would qualify as an Associate or Full Professor at the IU School of Medicine are preferred, but we invite energetic and productive individuals at the Assistant Professor rank to apply. Individuals with existing extramural funding for research or training programs are strongly encouraged to apply. Individuals should be willing to collaborate on extramural funding for the CI fellowship with colleagues at IU and other institutions. This position will most likely be non-tenured, although tenure eligibility can be considered for exceptional candidates.
