<p>West Virginia University Division of Roads and Grounds is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker II - Pressure Washer.</p> <p>About the Opportunity:</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Operations Manager and/or Lead Landscape Construction Worker shall perform skilled landscape maintenance duties to include pressure washing, painting and general maintenance of exterior surfaces and site furnishings. Check out retirement health insurance benefits, retirement income, and FAQ's. </li><li>Wellness programs </li></ul> <p>What you'll do:</p> <ul> <li>Performs general maintenance of exterior surfaces including but not limited to retaining walls, signs, site furnishings, steps, sidewalks, curbs, planters, bollards, and trash receptacles. May assist with cleaning of exterior windows and other building surfaces as needed. </li><li>Removes graffiti from walls, sidewalks, and site furnishings; performs all outside cleaning activities as required. Operates high-pressure washers, sandblasters, and other power equipment to complete these tasks. Operates blowers and walk-behind sweepers to clean and remove debris in maintaining the appearance of campus grounds. </li><li>Maintains landscape structures using materials such as concrete, bituminous concrete, flagstone, field stone, sculptured stone, brick, blocks, pavers, retaining wall blocks, and landscape timbers. </li><li>Assist with painting of surfaces as well as in the application of sealers, anti-spalling compounds, adhesives, etc. in performing normal duties. </li><li>Removes snow from sidewalks, steps, roads, and parking lots by means of trucks, tractors, power brooms, and hand tools. </li><li>Must be able to respond to emergency situations on all occasions and must be available for telephone contact during all emergency and unsafe environmental conditions. </li><li>Performs repairs on all equipment as needed. Completes service and maintenance on equipment and trucks such as greasing, oil changes, etc. Assists the mechanics with major repairs. </li><li>Performs duties as needed to complete seasonal change over on all trucks and equipment. </li></ul> <p>Pay Grade: 11</p> <p>Hours: 7a-3p</p> <ul> <li>Must have High School diploma or GED </li><li>A minimum of one (1) year experience in the following: </li><li>Experience operating various types of grounds maintenance equipment and pressure washers </li><li>Experience in a commercial landscaping environment </li><li>Experience repairing or constructing landscape structures using a variety of masonry materials and concrete </li><li>Experience with proper commercial and/or residential cleaning and experience in assisting with general trades maintenance </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical calculations. </li><li>Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions </li><li>Demonstrated ability to operate heavy construction equipment, grounds maintenance equipment, and large trucks. </li><li>Ability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, reach, and stand for extended periods of time. </li><li>Ability to operate equipment over rough terrain for long periods of time. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings, blue prints, specifications, and related regulatory codes and requirements. </li><li>Ability to perform tasks requiring frequent and prolonged exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, moving parts, noise, and/or extreme outdoor weather conditions or extreme variations of indoor temperatures. </li><li>Ability to operate a motor vehicle and equipment with a standard transmission. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to perform heavy lifting, bending, walking, standing, carrying, and climbing stairs </li><li>Able to operate equipment on rough, steep terrain for long periods of time </li></ul>
