<ul> <li>Safety Sensitive Position* </li></ul> <p>Classification:</p> <p>Non-Exempt</p> <p>Reports to:</p> <p>Concrete Restoration Department Superintendent</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Summary/Objective</p> <p>Repairs concrete and adds coatings and/or decorative coverings to floors.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Chips scrapes, and grinds high spots ridges, and rough projections using pneumatic chisels, hand chisels, and other hand tools. </li><li>Cleans and preps area for application. </li><li>Cleans construction site to eliminate possible hazards. </li><li>Tends pumps, compressors, generators. </li><li>Sprays materials such as water, steam, sand, sealants, solvents. </li><li>Mixes ingredients to create compounds. </li><li>Loads and unloads truck. </li><li>Spreads, levels and smoothes flooring material using a rake, shovel, hand or power screed. </li><li>Washes and treats surfaces using chemicals as specified. </li><li>Smooth surfaces with sandpaper, scrapers, steel wool or other tools. </li><li>Covers existing surfaces with drop cloths, paper or masking tape for protection of surfaces. </li><li>Erects scaffolding, sets up ladders. </li><li>Mixes cement, sand, lime and water to produce concrete, grout or slurry. </li><li>Cuts concrete, drills holes in concrete. </li><li>Builds molds to shape and form material. </li><li>Mixes multiple part flooring material using hand or power mixers. </li><li>Cleans and preps area for application. </li><li>Tends pumps, compressors, generators, kettles. </li><li>Digs and levels earth to grade specifications. </li><li>Receives instructions from supervisor. </li><li>Abides by all OSHA and Houck safety guidelines. </li><li>Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. </li></ul> <p>Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Building and construction standards and methods </li><li>Correct tools to use and their functions </li><li>Correct disposal methods </li><li>Basic mathematical skills </li><li>Public and personnel safety </li><li>Matching and detecting differences between colors, shades, and texture. </li><li>Understanding speech and conversing with people. </li><li>Determining when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. </li><li>Shift back and forth between two or more activities </li><li>Knowing one's location in relation to the environment around you. </li><li>Remembering information. </li><li>Handling and moving objects </li><li>Controlling machines and processes </li><li>Inspecting equipment, structures, and material. </li><li>Proper equipment selection. </li><li>Understanding and able to follow written directions. </li><li>Problem identification and solutions of problems. </li><li>Judgment and decision making, time management. </li><li></li><li>Personal Effectiveness/Credibility. </li><li>Communication/People Skills. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Functions can take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in high, precarious places with fumes and/or airborne particles. The standard work environment has loud to very loud noise levels associated with various equipment, coworkers and phone conversations. Often work must be performed in high and/or cramped workspaces and awkward positions.
