<p>The Educational Opportunity Program Coordinator promotes early college readiness and access by coordinating programs and advising for marginalized and underserved student populations. The coordinator collaborates heavily with local schools as a supplemental guidance counselor, providing high school academic and career advising, coaching, mentorship, and college counseling to eligible students. This position will visit local schools in the service area to build and maintain relationships with students, parents, counselors, and community partners. Programs served under this department include, but are not limited to, TRIO Talent Search and Emerging Lakehawks.</p> <p>This is a partially grant-funded position. Multi-year grants are funded based on the fiscal years for the full grant cycle. However, there is no guarantee that funding is available year after year, and employment with the college after each grant-funded cycle is not assured. </p> <p>Responsible for demonstrating LSSC's core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Recruit, manage, and maintain a caseload of non-credit EOP students, meeting with them at their school, college, or other location necessary to provide academic support through high school-based academic advising, mentoring, coaching, academic referrals, and college counseling. </p> </li><li> <p>Provide guidance counseling services that include course selection and registration, monitoring of high school completion requirements, career advisement, enrollment and management of rigorous secondary school program of study, and academic interventions. </p> </li><li> <p>Develop and lead presentations on financial literacy, career development, financial aid, college readiness, and other topics deemed necessary for their caseload of students.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with planning and coordinating college visitations, cultural activities, field trips, and workshops for students, teachers, parents, and the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide application assistance, enrollment assistance, and regular check-ins for the Introduction to College Success dual enrollment course.</p> </li><li> <p>Recruit eligible grant participants, including developing a recruitment calendar and giving program presentations to students, families, and school staff throughout Lake and Sumter County school districts.</p> </li><li> <p>Support programs and services that increase college readiness in the local community, including academic, social, emotional, career, and transactional readiness.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with other Early College Programs departments, including Youth Outreach, Dual Enrollment, and Early College Academies, to achieve Early College Programs outcomes.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain current and accurate school visits and student meetings documentation to meet grant and institutional reporting requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and maintain relationships with partners at the local schools and the general community through intentional outreach efforts to facilitate student support.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the planning and participation in division-wide and college-wide events.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve on department and college-wide committees, councils, and work groups as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as requested.</p> </li><li> <p>Microsoft Office skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Typing proficiency.</p> </li><li> <p>Problem solving and analysis skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Required:</p> </li><li> <p>An associate's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field</p> </li><li> <p>Preferred:</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree</p> </li><li> <p>At least two years of experience working in a secondary or postsecondary educational setting.</p> </li><li> <p>At least one year of experience working with marginalized and underserved youth.</p> </li><li> <p>Bilingual in Spanish and English.</p> </li><li> <p>Background similar to the population being served.</p> </li></ul>
