Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Clinical Affairs, the COO partners closely with and assists the AVP by leading the execution, integration, and day-to-day operations of the hospital from development and activation through ongoing operations.</p> <p>The COO provides executive oversight of hospital operations, complex healthcare integration models, and performance management, ensuring the hospital is operationally ready, clinically effective, financially sustainable, and aligned with the academic, clinical, and strategic priorities of the University. This role is accountable for translating strategic and clinical vision into a high-performing operational reality for a specialty neurological and rehabilitation hospital.</p> <p>Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience</p> <p>Master's degree in a job-related field and at least ten (10) years of job-related experience, including prior management experience.</p> <p>Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field </li><li>Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible healthcare leadership experience, including senior operational roles within hospitals or integrated health systems. </li><li>Prior experience as a Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President, or Vice President of Operations. </li><li>Demonstrated experience leading hospital operations, activation, or complex service line integration. </li><li>Demonstrated leadership experience managing or overseeing a neurosciences service line or comparable high-acuity specialty service line. </li><li>Experience in academic medical centers or specialty hospitals. </li><li>Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). </li><li>Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Lean/Six Sigma </li><li>Proven ability to operate effectively in complex academic or multi-stakeholder environments. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Expert knowledge of hospital operations and healthcare delivery systems. </li><li>Demonstrated expertise in the strategic and operational management of neurosciences services, including high-acuity inpatient and outpatient care models. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead complex operational integration efforts. </li><li>Financial and operational acumen with experience managing performance outcomes. </li><li>Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, physicians, academic partners, and external stakeholders. </li><li>High standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical leadership. </li></ul> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Job Duty</p> <p>Strategic Operations & Executive Partnership</p> <p>Serve as the senior operational executive partnering with and assisting the Associate Vice President for Clinical Affairs in executing the hospital's strategic, clinical, and academic vision. Advise executive leadership on operational implications of strategic decisions and ensure alignment across academic, clinical, and administrative stakeholders. Act as the primary operational counterpart to the AVP, enabling focus on institutional leadership, clinical strategy, and external relationships.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 18 Job Duty</p> <p>Hospital Development, Activation & Integration</p> <p>Provide executive leadership for the creation, activation, and integration of the University's neurological and rehabilitation hospital. Lead hospital readiness efforts, including operational planning, staffing models, workflow implementation, technology enablement, and go-live coordination, using structured project management and continuous improvement methodologies as tools to drive execution and accountability. Ensure seamless integration of facilities, clinical operations, support services, and external partners.
