Additionally, this role supports the production of internal newsletters, management of the department's web communications and provides writing and editing support. The position will also act are a representative of the department at events, and work on special projects.</p> <p>What DPS Offers You:</p> <ul> <li>A Culture that values Equity, Accountability, Integrity, Collaboration and Fun with a shared vision that Every Learner Thrives. </li><li>Salary Range. $55,099 - $66,119 annually Click here for more information on compensation for these roles. </li><li>In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as communication specialist on transportation initiatives, goals, and priorities with focus on forward-looking message and communication planning </li><li>Works effectively and independently with various stakeholders </li><li>Processes competency in tracking and reporting strategic plan impacts </li><li>Provides assistance in educating and communicating organizational process improvements within the Transportation Department </li><li>Provides communication support to leadership and other team members on a regular basis and coordinates the regular production of communications to department employees, including content gathering, editing and publication </li><li>Oversees various internal communications, such as newsletters, policies, memos, and online content by providing copy and editing support </li><li>Responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive community relations strategies that align with the strategic priorities of the Transportation Department and engaging major stakeholders and leadership to achieve success </li><li>Manages the department's web and social media sites </li><li>Assist with special events and department projects as needed and represents the department at community events </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree Communication or related field Minimum </li><li>Three (3) years of progressive experience in the communications field, preferably with experience in education or with a public agency </li><li>Ability to foster collaborative work relationships at all levels in the organization, from senior staff to all levels of support personnel </li><li>Exceptional verbal, writing, proofreading and editing skills </li><li>Ability to create and execute detailed communications plans, tailored to diverse audiences </li><li>High level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines </li><li>Must be self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks, demonstrate poise and decisiveness under pressure, and possess the ability to work well both independently as well as within a team </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook </li><li>Effective time management and organizational skills </li><li>Familiarity with HTML and web design tools </li><li>Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus </li><li>Knowledge and experience in education and/or transportation industries </li><li>Design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) experience is preferred </li><li>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. </li><li>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. </li><li>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position. </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
