Kalamazoo Valley Community College creates innovative and equitable opportunities that empower all to learn, grow, and thrive.</p> <p>About the Opportunity</p> <p>Kalamazoo Valley is seeking an experienced professional to serve as an Office Manager. This position supervises day to day operations for the Support Services team assigned to the Texas Township campus. The Office Manager works closely with multiple departments and deans in order to provide excellent customer service to students, faculty and staff. The manager receives, prioritizes and assigns tasks and coordinates schedules in order to support various initiatives. The position recommends hires, orients, trains and evaluates all assigned support personnel; recommends training and, through the Human Resources department, establishes acceptable human resource practices; assists with and monitors departmental budget; attends to and resolves internal personnel situations/difficulties; and processes all required documents.</p> <p>Other duties may include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Providing information to students, customers and employees regarding departmental policies and procedures. </li><li>Initiating, developing and/or coordinating complex projects for the assigned areas. </li><li>Coordinating/providing support and/or assigning teams for committee and departmental meetings. </li><li>Collecting and analyzing data and reporting findings to supervisor or support partners. </li><li>Preparing administrative reports, proposals and procedures. </li><li>Drafting or editing messages, chat information, websites, publications in coordination with marketing and other departments. </li><li>Drafting correspondence and/or corresponding in response to inquiries; and initiating, developing, participating in, recommending and implementing clerical/office related decisions regarding office policy and procedures. </li><li>Assisting in implementation of new systems and technology tools. </li><li>Providing administrative assistance with special events. </li><li>Preparing or coordinating preparation of payroll, purchasing, facilities, vouchers, pay authorization and related documents. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge and Skills Required</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of acceptable office management techniques. </li><li>Knowledge of acceptable supervisory practices and principles. </li><li>Knowledge of assigned department operations, policies and procedures. </li><li>Skill in supervising a variety of support personnel. </li><li>Skill in working with a variety of customers. </li><li>Skill in developing and maintaining complex records, files and data. </li><li>Skill in operating standard office machines and computer systems/personal computers. </li><li>Skill in managing an office and office staff. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are required.
