<p>The purpose of this position is to supervise the daily operations to conserve and protect the physical environment of Beaufort County through the effective and efficient delivery of services. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.</p> <p>The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.</p> <ul> <li>Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. </li><li>Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. </li><li>Monitors daily operations of convenience centers. </li><li>Provides staff training as needed to ensure staff are aware of County policies, programs, and opportunities. </li><li>Train employees on safety policies regarding proper use of equipment. </li><li>Enforces the County's Solid Waste code of ordinances. </li><li>Investigates and documents customers' complaints regarding illegal dumping, littering, nuisance properties, and trash disposal. </li><li>Coordinates services with contracted providers. </li><li>Reconciles payroll for the department. </li><li>Performs related work as assigned. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Requires Bachelor's degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in business, liberal arts, or any field other than engineering or the hard sciences. </li><li>Over two years and up to and including four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. </li></ul> <p>All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.</p>
