<p>Nature of Work</p> <p>Under the direction of the Compliance Officer of the WV Lottery. Works independently and as part of a team. This classification specializes in planning, organizing, and implementing the internal audit plan for the Lottery to assure legal compliance and financial integrity. Responsible for conducting periodic and systematic review of the agency's activities. Communicates directly with leadership and agency staff during the audit process. Prepares audit findings to include audit summary, schedules, and exhibits; makes recommendations for changes in accounting systems, internal controls, operating procedures, and agency rules and regulations. Presents audit findings for discussion with the director and deputy directors of the lottery. May train, plan and review the work of other internal auditors, accountants, and support staff. Establishes and maintains a system of internal accounting checks to minimize potential abuse/fraud/waste. Coordinates auditing functions with independent audit firms and independent video lottery consultants. Works in a team environment with professional staff. May lead individual audit teams or work independently.
