Full benefits. Salary - $19.62/hour to $21.49/hour range.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must have two years of college credit; OR Associates Degree or higher; OR must provide evidence of having passed the State Board of Education adopted paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of those topics. (In Connecticut, the ParaPro Examination is the recognized assessment.)</p> </li><li> <p>Previous experience working with adolescents in a school setting a plus</p> </li><li> <p>Must be flexible, creative, have a good sense of humor, and demonstrate strong organizational skills</p> </li><li> <p>Must be highly motivated and self-directed</p> </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Facilitates program participation for identified student(s) and supports special education teams, regular classroom programs and school as a whole.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends all activities with student(s) as assigned, including field trips, assemblies and other portions of the school program.</p> </li><li> <p>Encourages, cues, monitors and intervenes as necessary to establish and maintain appropriate student interaction in the classroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Implements behavior support programs under the supervision of the School Psychologist and BCBA</p> </li><li> <p>Adapts materials under the supervision of instructional staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides individual support and enrichment activities as needed under the direction of a teacher.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates objectives and strategies introduced by special education and related services staff into content-area classrooms.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as liaison between general education teachers and the special education Case Managers, reporting progress or concerns from the general education classroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Meets with regular classroom teachers and special education teachers on a regularly scheduled basis to coordinate efforts and program objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise independent or small group work, homework organization and other academic tasks as requested by the special education teacher.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in in-service workshops and on-going training regarding student's needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains current working knowledge of students' IEP</p> </li><li> <p>Encourages independence in students as appropriate.</p> </li></ul> <p>Applications will only be accepted online at the district Web site: www.er9.org A direct link to the application page is: http://www.applitrack.com/er9/onlineapp/</p> <p>Applicants must submit the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Formal letter of application</p> </li><li> <p>Three letters of recommendation</p> </li><li> <p>Transcripts from post-secondary education</p> </li><li> <p>If applicable, evidence of passing grade on ParaPro Exam</p> </li><li> <p>Internal applicants need only to submit a letter of application with an updated resume to the Special Education Department Chair</p> </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>The Region 9 Public School District is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
