<p>Department</p> <p>Department of Human Services</p> <p>Division</p> <p>Trades</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>$51,827.00 - $57,567.00</p> <p>Job Profile</p> <p>JC-02709100-19 - Junior Resource Specialist (C94 L2882 OHHS DHS)</p> <p>Scheduled Work Days & Work Hours</p> <p>Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.</p> <p>35 hours - Standard</p> <p>Job Requisition Number</p> <p>JR102993 JUNIOR RESOURCE SPECIALIST (Open)</p> <p>Pay Grade</p> <p>C00319 A</p> <p>Classification</p> <p>Junior Resource Specialist</p> <p>Class Definition</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To carry out, under supervision, technical, analytical, evaluative and liaison work for the planning, development and implementation of human resource programs; to assist agencies involved with serving the needs of minorities, low-income or other disadvantaged groups; under close supervision, to provide initial counseling and information to minorities, low income or disadvantaged individuals; under supervision, to carry out elements of programs serving the need of low income or disadvantaged individuals.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the close supervision of a superior with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgement; work is monitored and reviewed in process and upon completion for accuracy and adherence to desired objectives.</p> <p>SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Usually none.</p> <p>ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:</p> <ul> <li>To perform under direction, technical, analytical, evaluation and coordination work for the planning and development of human resource programs. </li><li>To provide assistance, under supervision, to local and statewide human resource agencies providing service to minorities, low-income or other disadvantaged groups. </li><li>To provide entrance counseling to low-income or disadvantaged individuals and special client groups. </li><li>To assist in the operation of programs such as job development, energy conservation, consumer awareness, food and nutrition, housing and special activities for vulnerable populations directed at helping deprived citizens achieve their full social and economic potential. </li><li>To assist in the analysis, evaluation and preparation of human resource programs for the purpose of determining priorities and needs. </li><li>To assist in the preparation of need assessments and grant requests relative to human resource programs. </li><li>To do related work as required. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT:</p> <p>KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A working knowledge of the methods and techniques involved in the collection and organization of social and economic data used in the planning and development and operation of human resource programs; the ability to carry out, under direction, studies and surveys; the ability to analyze and evaluate data and make program planning recommendations; the ability to assist state, local and community organization officials as well as the general public; and related capacities and abilities necessary to carry out human resource programs.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Education: Such as may have been gained through: successful completion of at least two years of academic study in an accredited institution of higher education; and</p> <p>Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment in a social service agency involved in human resources development.</p> <p>Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging</p> <p>Adult Protective Services Support Worker</p> <p>Junior Resource Specialist</p> <p>This position within the Office of Healthy Aging reports to the Supervisor of Adult Protective Services (APS).</p> <p>The Adult Protective Services Support Worker is an integral part of the Elder Rights and Safety Unit (ERS) that is responsible for the receipt of calls to the APS line, triaging calls and supporting the work of the APS Unit through various administrative tasks.</p> <p>Under the direction of the APS Supervisor, the Adult Protective Services Support Worker will:</p> <ul> <li>Work with a diverse population of older adults, families, and caregivers in the field of protective services. </li><li>Work collaboratively with ERS staff in the specialized field of APS. </li><li>Collaborate with community partners to mitigate risk to Rhode Island's older adults. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions / Tasks</p> <ul> <li>Support daily administrative operations by handling high-volume tasks, coordinating multiple responsibilities. </li><li>Effectively and compassionately communicate with callers who are experiencing stressful situations. </li><li>Provide front-line administrative support by receiving APS calls, assessing inquiries using a triage tool, and directing callers to the appropriate resources. </li></ul> <p>Answer phones live. Complete a pre-screening triage report. When appropriate, transfer calls to APS screeners and/or investigators.</p> <p>Log calls appropriately in human services data system.</p> <ul> <li>Support APS operations by contacting community organizations to obtain critical documentation and information for case follow-up, including hospitals, law enforcement, and database systems (e.g., LexisNexis). </li><li>Perform administrative tasks, including but not limited to, receiving faxed documents and uploading to client records, assisting staff with expense related tasks, etc. </li></ul> <p>Cross reference the tax liens list to active APS clients</p> <p>Additional Functions</p> <ul> <li>Attend meetings and conferences, as assigned by APS Supervisor, related to RI APS. </li><li>Respect and maintain confidentiality, professional protocols, and individual privacy. </li><li>Identify client needs, resources, and services available to victims, families, and caregivers, and offer appropriate resources. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate they</p> <ul> <li>Are committed to community-informed decision making. </li><li>Possess strong and effective communication skills. </li><li>Possess a proficient knowledge of computer programs and experience working with web-based databases. </li><li>Take initiative, multi-task, possess good judgment, and work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Are committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility, and protecting the rights and safety of older adults in Rhode Island. </li></ul> <p>The individual hired to fill this position is being hired into an E-Verify site which contains Federal tax Information (FTI), as defined in IRS Publication 1075.
